Just got back, Nov 20th, prime location, 5 mins walk from beach. Rooms ok, bathroom filthy, needs updating. Some staff helpful, but some were very rude. Supposed to be be 3* I'd say 2*. Breakfast ok, but dinner same every night, boring and not always hot. Pool area litterd with plates, bottles every morning. Night club on site booming out til 2am plus. Hotel private beach gets very busy, get there early. Scuba diving was fantastic, about £35 for couple hours, well worth it. Would i stay at this hotel again? No!

Just returned from a one week " Holiday from Hell. " The rooms, pool area and restaurant, were generally clean and tidy. Staff were helpful and friendly. However, the advertisement of this hotel being " peaceful and relaxing " is just a myth. We were kept awake every night untill 2,3 and 4 AM due to loud thumping banging house music, which shook the walls, coming from the roof top bar, or pool area. Despite the attempts by the holiday rep and our complaints made personally to the hotel, nothing was done about it! We will not be returning to this hotel ever again.

This hotel has seen better days. Communal areas not too bad but bedrooms quite shabby. All Inclusive a waste of money - you could have what they wanted you to have when they wanted you to have it. Some staff very good - others unsure of the difference between being pleasant and over familiar. There is no indoor seating area/bar during the day, just the very small pool bar. At night very loud and very expensive upstairs bar. Location is good for town and beach. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Too much wrong with it and a certain feeling that there was no point in complaining. When we were there 90+% of guests had tummy upsets.

Excellent Hotel !!

from quinny64uk
Perfect location, lovely clean hotel, value for money. I wouldn't hesitate in staying here again. Staff were freindly and helpful. The only downside to the whole Sharm el sheik experience is the constant hassle from everyone with something to sell !!!! When will they learn that the only effect it has is to get people annoyed and make them avoid buying anything! I would normally bring presents back from holiday but the thought of going in to a shop made my blood boil !!
Don't feel guilty by ignoring them, they will try to make you feel that way, they WILL try and rip you off.
Someone tried to sell me a SECOND HAND copy of the news of the world for 45 egyptian pounds !!! 4 pounds 50p !!! When I bartered him down to 20 egyptian pounds he said he was offended that I would'nt give him 25 so he could have 5 for himself as the paper had supposedly cost him 20 !!! The paper had cartoon captions coming out of peoples mouths !! I had to be thankful that the crossword hadn't been done !!! Then when we were leaving the beach he wanted me to GIVE him the paper back as a present !!!! I said I'd rather throw it in the bin !!!!

I booked this hotel after reading the good reviews, I had been to Luxor 7 years ago and coped quite well with that, but now I am traveling with a two year old and had to make sure the hotel was of a certain standard. I neednt had worried. The hotel was fantastic, clean, friendly and in an brilliant location. Everything was right on your door step. Shops, restaurants, banks, MACDONALDS!!! and the beach.
We arrived quite late at the hotel and nothing was too much trouble, they cooked a meal for my young son and offered us room service.
The rooms were clean and well presented, the bathroom was well lit with hair dryer nice big mirror and plug socket for essential hair straighteners!!!The shower was good. plenty of hot water although first impressions of the shower where that it looked like it could do with updating,Everyday there was fresh towels, plenty of loo roll. There was always boxes of tissues in the bathroom, and plenty of soap in the dispenser. The room boy was good, really kept the room tidy. They done fantastic decorations with the towels on the beds which my little boy was delighted with on our return from the beach. The hotel provides you with towels around the pool, and also if you obtain a voucher from reception you can get towels at the beach aswell. At the beach there were pleny yof lounfgers as well as around the hotel pool.
Breakfast was really nice, plenty of choice, although we had trouble getting up in the morning as the blackout curtains kept enough light out we could fool the baby that it was not morning and get a lie in!!
We had some fantastic meals out, Tam Tams for cold meze and soup at lunch time, 3 of us ate for about a fiver, evening we ate in most places, maharaja on the beach front, the japanese on the front aswell. We also ate in the Lebense opposite MacDonalds quite a few times , we ate loads of fish and salad and none of us were ill. Na'ama Bay was fantastic, compared to Luxor it was like Vegas without the tacky bits.I would recommend this place to anyone.I will definatly be having my next winter holiday here. Days are sunny not too hot, evenings are mild, you need to wrap up but it beats December in Wales any day. Lisa Darren & Zach

We decided to stay at this hotel because of the excellent reviews on trip advisor. We have just returned from an 11 night stay. The location of the hotel in the resort of Naama Bay is fantastic. The management and staff were really friendly and helpful. We went on two trips. The first was a boat trip and snorkelling with lunch included. The sights were spectacular and the lunch was very good. Well worth the money. The second was an evening at the Sinai Casino with evening meal (pretty disgusting) and show (also poor quality). Not worth the money as you can get a taxi and visit yourself. The resort was lively in the evening with a big choice of restaurants and bars. There are also venues if you like the late night club/dance scene. As football lovers we also found a couple of bars that showed all the premiership matches plus the rugby. I do agree that the local spirits are very weak but the beer and wines are good. We had absolutely no problems with the street and shop vendors. If you say no firmly and politely they are fine. We did not see one single begger. The security in the resort is present but not intimidating and at no time did we feel insecure. The weather was fantastic every day and this is probably one of the best places to visit at this time of year for winter sun. Would definately go back to Naama Bay.

Special Hotel

Stayed at this wonderful hotel with 2 teenagers(18/16) wondered what to expect. First the rooms, interconnecting double rooms, clean, spacious, great outside area with tables, chairs and shade. the pool cleaned morning and night lots of beds and umbrellas the staff always helpful. The breakfast lovely fresh cooked omelettes and pancakes,on the second morning the chef knew what each of us liked. Room service quick and excellent value. The resort itself lively and safe(contrary to what we had heard) The staff at this hotel are the stars nothing to much trouble, we all felt very looked after. All in all a gem of a hotel and we cant wait to go back.

enjoyable stay at kahramana

from lyndseyj
Spent a week in the Kahramana from the 12th - 19th October.
Having been to Sharm twice before, i know the area pretty well and wanted a hotel really central to Namma Bay.
The Kahramana is just that! Literally a 2 minute walk from the bars and resturants. The pool area is lovely and kept clean. It's quite relaxing around the pool until about 3.30pm when the music gets louder and the games begin, which is really good.
I only had breakfast at the hotel as there is so many resturants to choose from around Namma Bay. Breakfast was ok, plenty to choose from, but i always stick to the omlettes, which i enjoy.
The room i had was overlooking the pool area, and the air conditioning is very good. The rooms are cleaned daily and a good job is done.
Namma Bay is fantastic, as i said this was my third time and i still love it. The mexican is so nice, as is China house.
Valentino is new resturant/lounge/disco - which is really good.
Overall i had a fantastic stay and would recommend the Kahramana. I have previously stayed at the Hilton Sharm Dreams which is a 5*, and yes it is a much nicer hotel, but the Kharamana is half the price and you get what you pay for.

Superb hotel, best holiday experience ever!

from martini_girl36
What can I say? Staying at the Kahramana was one of the best experiences I've had on holiday ever.

The staff are so friendly creating such a good mood between fellow holiday-makers therefore making it seem a home from home.

The hotel was very clean and staff are only too willing to help out with any problems you may have. Rooms are cleaned daily with fresh towels left too, they even mould the towels into swans, flowers or butterflies and leave them on your bed for your arrival back!

Air-conditioning is an absolute MUST, so it was a God-send that all rooms have individually controlled A/C and to save you weight, they all have a hair-dryer in the bathroom!

They've a mini bar, which I found great for storing my after-sun and water too!

Everyday the Animation team have something on at the pool, Abi, the main guy usually starts off with a game of water polo. To my surprise, it was so much fun and I regularly played! They also have other excursions such as snorkelling on the beach - this happens around 2pm, you hire the snorkels out for about £1 and you're taken along the beach to view these fantastic fish! I had been on the snorkelling trips before this but there was really no need, you can swim out about 10-15 m's from the beach and there is live coral there and the most extraordinary fish. In fact, the fish I seen at the beach were identical to those at Tiran island! An underwater camera with a flash is a must and can be picked up for approx £11 in their Kodak shops! These cameras are re-useable AND are lots cheaper than buying in the UK!!

At night, the team have something else lined up, be it a beach party, party at the castle etc - this is aimed for younger people who like to party, or indeed those of any age who are up for partying!

Buffet breakfast - definitely a highlight, not to be missed! There is a superb selection of fruits, breads, salads, yoghurts, cereals, cakes & danishes, eggs (boiled or your own custom-made omelettes), luncheon meats, traditional egyptian foods and the best part, freshly cooked crepes with hot chocolate sauce!! These are superb!

If you have booked an excursion, you can ask Reception for a Breakfast Box to take with you, this is at no extra cost, only downside is you don't get the warm food!

The hotel is central to the strip, 1 minutes walk and you're on the strip strolling past Hard Rock Cafe, Little Buddha and the most surreal bazaar's which provide a comfy spot to smoke a Shisha! These bazaar's have almost any flavour of fruit and you can get a Shisha with or without tobacco. I, being a non-smoker myself, was able to have a puff on lemon without tobacco therefore no cravings!

Please note if you're bringing a Shisha back, you will have the charcoal taken off you at the airport, yip, they will open your case and take it off you. Not to worry, our own BBQ fast-burn charcoal does the same job!

What else? Pool bar is very cheap! They'll bring your drinks over to you at no extra cost and always with a smile on their face! The wee dotes were so thoughtful, they made me up special drinks when I got sick and it's worth noting the pool bar uses bottled water to make the ice - so you can drink/ eat it no problems!

As for getting sick, again, Reception were marvellous, phoned a doctor on my behalf and had him out within the hour! The doctor was very cheap as well, just in case you need to know!

One other thing, it's worth noting that you can book your own excursions without your travel rep. For example, I was told I couldn't swim with dolphins, the list was too long, turned out I could book it myself just 5 minutes up the road from the hotel (shop called Aquarius!) Plus it's cheaper this way too!

Finally, all I can say is this was one of the best hotel experiences of my life and I will go back and stay in the same hotel in the hopefully not too distant future!

Excellent Hotel, Brilliant location

from Bbird
We booked this hotel as part of a last minute package and did not know what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised at how lucky we had been.
The hotel location is ideal, short walk to the beach and a nice easy stroll around the town. The staff in the hotel are very helpful & friendly. One of the fun parts to this holiday was finding a different towel decoration on our bed every afternoon.
We had a problem with the A/c in our room, it was repaired within minutes of calling reception.
Breakfast is buffet style, plenty choice.
When we return to Sharm el Sheikh, this will be the hotel I will be booking into.

Already booked to go back

from A TripAdvisor Member
I retured from the Kahramana 5 days ago after a fortnight and have already booked to go back this Nov. My 2nd visit to Sharm but better than first, helped hugely by the location of this hotel and the staff there. As a lone female traveller I couldn't have asked for better company from the staff and other guests!!! The fact I didn't have to get any taxi's to leave my hotel was a big bonus this time compared to my last visit to Sharm. I was B&B and found the breakfast selection the best on any holiday I've ever been on. The Which Way restaurant did lovely food for lunch and dinner when I ate there but Naama Bay has so many other places to choose from, all within 10 minutes walk. I think I only ate in about 10% of the places available. The daily water polo is great fun although Kiko cheats!!! The hotel also does snorkelling daily from the beach. I found plenty of choice for sunbeds everytime I went there. All in all, I can't wait until 27 November.

Lovely Hotel

from SFB43
I have just returned from Sharm where i stayed at the Kahramana. It is a lovely hotel with personal service. It is only metres away from the shops and restaurants and a very short walk to the beach where the snorkelling is great. The staff at Kahramana are always pleased to help and remember all of their guests names. The rooms are very clean and towel sculptures on the bed brought a smile to my face. Worth a tip to the housekeeping staff! There's aerobics in the pool every morning so if you go, try it, it's good fun. The food in the hotel is average but there are plenty of restaurants to try in Naama Bay anyway. If you want a nice small hotel go to the Kahramana. I will definitely stay there if i go to Sharm again.

splendid kahramana

Top Local Tips for Sharm El Sheikh

Trips from Sharm El Sheikh Shop around for the best price on trips to Cairo and Luxor. You could save about GBP 40 per person by going via a local travel agency rather than your tour operator.

The best weather I think the best time in year to go to sharm el shiekh is by the end of April/first of May ..or in October /November.the weather there is amazing then. Also in winter the weather there is nice,,not so cold.

general tips. B&B would be better than All Inclusive but to be safe I would say - DON'T GO AT ALL!Take dry-wash with you to clean and disinfect your hands after handling the money. Carry £1 (egyption pounds) for tipping. Take loo roll with you if you go out anywhere as they often don't keep any in the ladies or they hand you a couple of sheets. Don't let people take your cases at the airport as they expect a tip. Haggle with the shop keepers. If you are not interested in looking at their shops - just say a firm no. Ladies - you are quite safe there but be respectful in a muslim country. Do not let your children out of your site as we heard a couple of bad things. Take some Peptobismal with you or Immobian - Pharos Revenge in not very nice and EVERYONE got it. Make sure your valuable are locked away either in your safe, or lock your suitcase.
