I have just returned from egypt with my mate we were looking for some beauty treatments so decided to use the salon at this hotel, I was left in tears after the treatment i recieved my facial was literally a mud mask the manicure treatment was just some nail varnish applied to your nails and the hairdresser would dry my hair after cutting it he wanted some more money, I cant even explain how badly we were treated. I would never ever go there again....

We were suprised when we arrived that the hotel was not the one in all the photos on the web!! But the hotel was lovely and on the beach..ideal.The staff were wonderful,we didnt have a balcony when we arrived, but no problem we were moved directly to a gorgeous room with a sea view. The rooms were cleaned everyday - we had fresh towels and the shower was wonderful, lots of hot water. We always had a lovely meal, although the all inclusive drinks were not what we have experienced before,we would much prefer wine with our evening meal instead of flat soft drinks. I agree with the other reviews that the adjoining beach club did play the music to extreme and we did have to move a couple of times,I am sure the hotel could stop this.I would definitely go again to the Helnan. Our first visit to Sharm was made enjoyable thanks to the hotel and its staff.
Great service and great staff

The Helnan Marina hotel at Sharm el Sheikh last week repeatedly refused guests requests to turn off the loud music blaring out on its private beach front, sending many of the paying customers to other locations to escape the torture on Boney M at maxi decibels!
It seems that the hotels “animation staff” were determined to get the guests off their sun beds and into the spirit of keep fit, by playing non stop disco music from 10 a.m. until sunset and no amount of complaining could stop them.
Paying guests who had secured their sun bed for the day, plugged in their I pods and selected their favourite tracks to relax to, were given no consideration as the thump thump of a huge loudspeaker invaded their privacy and drown out their own personal selections.
Other non “bad disco music” lovers who simply wanted to hear the sounds of the waves breaking on the shore were equally put out and complained to the hotel manager, but to no avail.
One group of 23 holiday makers even took matters in to their own hands and turned the music off, only to have an irate hotel employee switch it back on again at higher volume.
It seems that the hotel manger thought more of his staff's wishes than that of his paying guests, and no amount of negotiation could alter his mind.
With Sharm el Sheikh recovering form acts of terrorism and needing to everything it can to reinvigorate the hotel trade with fresh and repeated tourist bookings, ignoring the please of it's customers seems like commercial suicide.
On interviewing the disgruntled guests it seems that the constant loud music was not the only thing that was a cause for complaint, with one guest stating that the security guard on the front door was asking for a tip before allowing her to exit the hotel!
Along with badly maintained rooms, guests having to wait for staff to turn up in the breakfast restaurant before being able to get anything to eat, and mattresses on the beds harder then the wooden sun beds on the beach it seems the hotel has got a lot to address before it can say that it is supporting the rebirth of Sharm and not damaging it's reputation.
A search on the internet reveals that this is not the first time that the Helnan Marina has been in the firing line, with the only good reviews seemingly written by its own staff or promoters.
Lets hope the Helnan Marina in Sharm can listen to its paying customers rather than dictate to them, otherwise they might find themselves with many empty rooms. At least this would give them the opportunity to get some much needed maintenance done, with the first job being to fix the leak in the toilet that dripped its contents on to the guest who was sat on the toilet in the room below.

One other thing, the toilets on the resorts boats flush straight in to the sea, so dont be suprised to see the odd piece of raw sewage float by.

Top Local Tips for Sharm El Sheikh

camel bar and bedouin night get to the camel bar.great roof top scene and plenty of nice folk, sport and music.the bedoin night is nice

beware of crooks we were advised and we advise others yet again. there are people roaming sharm alsheikh who would bump into you and say excuse me ..is this your first time here? this question=a crook is starting over he will tell you that he is a representative from marriot or holliday inn and they are doing a questionnere about the place...you just won a mobile phone ...or won 2 nights on our expense.he takes to an office and asks for money 20-30$ for a ticket to the grand opening of their hotel. There will be no hotel and talking to them is a waste of time beleive me. Once we bumped into one of them and me and my wife decided to see where it will reach. then cam epay us 20$ i said i dont have the amount as i kept all my money in the hotel safe.10$? 5$?anything? no nothing we said we will come later we told them laughing in our hearts. 15 min later we entered a cafe for icecream. a guy came shouting on us shame on you u have money..we called the police for his stalking but he escaped

The locals As 2 women on holiday we were warned re the locals hassling you in shops, bars etc. We didnt find this threatening at all - infact if you join in the banter with them it makes it more fun!!!! No women should be put off going to Naama Bay by the locals hassling - it is all good natured and non threatening in our experience. In fact the constant marriage proposals were an ego boost!!!!!!!
