Ells Bells

from A TripAdvisor Member
Well were do I start. This place was quite simply terrible. First there were three of us... all single adults and we were given a tiny room with a building site for a view and there was a stench worse than the sewers of Bangkok. It had a double bed and a child's camper bed. When we complained we got changed but our new (tiny) room had two singles and a broken child's camper bed which was very uncomfortable. We were told it would not be changed again when we tried. Breakfast was rubbish, lunch and dinner was also rubbish. Very, very bland and it also and made us ill. We opted to eat out. Staff were on the whole rude. Service poor. Bills continually wrong and we were overcharged many times. Entertainment poor. Although they tried their best. Poolside music really bad and loud. The sports "facilities" were non-existent. The games room resembled a youth club that had run out of money and the tennis court looked like it was a rubbish tip. Bathrooms stank, you could not sit in the small bath because it was so tiny and the water did not work. The only things that made our stay memorable were some of the lovely staff (although very few), the other lovely people staying there, the nice taxi drivers outside and the few excursions we booked wearily within the hotel - which turned out to be great. This place is no, no, way a 4 star hotel. It should be stripped of at least 3 stars. And don't be fooled by photos. Good job Sharm El Sheik is absolutely fabulous.

Value for money

Having read several bad reviews about the Cleopatra we arrived slightly worried to say the least, Only to find to our suprise a reasonably run 2star hotel.

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, the rooms clean and comfortable, and the food quite good.

However should you go like some expecting 4star then you are going to be disappointed, but go expecting 2star you could be pleasently suprised

My mother nad I have just returned to England after spending two week in the Cleopatra Tsokkos in Sharm El Sheikh. It is in a fantastic location, perfect as a base, and the hotel team are most accommodating.
Everyone at the hotel was helpful from the bar/waiting staff, housekeeping to the top line managers. It is such a beautiful hotel, we will be revisiting in January 2006.
You have to try it.

Pay a bit more for a proper 4 star

After reading a few other reviews I was very worried before going. The staff on the whole are helpful and friendly. The hotel itself though is a bit tired, the food is hit and miss - sometimes OK, other times you're left thinking "Mmm.. still not sure if it's chicken or fish".
When the food served by the pool, nice setting, but the hygiene, not the best I've seen.
Rooms can be very noisy - everything seems to echo around the hotel and there seems to be zero soundproofing. We had to move rooms and I have to say the bathrooms in both not great. Animation crew do try their best and some of the entertainment not bad.
All in all, not bad for the money, if you're on a budget, but would I go back? - definitely NOT. Spend a bit more money and go for a proper 4 star - this is a two and a half at best!

Cleopatra Tsokkos. The hotel was supposed to be rated 4 star - no way it was 2 star at best. The sea was warmer than the hotel pool. Same food every day. 1/2 mile treck to beach - that you had to pay for. The pits.

Super friendly clean Hotel

After reading several bad reports on the Cleopatra, I was very dubious about this Hotel. I can only think the people who wrote these reports wanted a 5 Star plus hotel but only wanted to pay a 2 star Hotel price. The staff at the Cleopatra where extremely friendly, the food was excellent, the pool was cleaned every day, the air con was quite and working perfect, the beer ice cold when you ask the staff. Yes the bedrooms were a little worn and the entertainment at times poor, but on the whole a very enjoyable holiday and I would have no hesitation on going back. The Cleopatra is a good 3 star plus hotel trying very hard to obtain the 4 star rating. I have stayed in 5 star Hotels in Portugal and Spain and would not swap them for the Cleopatra.

We stayed fully inclusive but after 2 days we found the food so terrible (birds flying around the restaurant, landing on the food and flies everywhere) that we decided to eat out. Not only were we and others in the hotel ill due to the preparation of the food, which was also served up the following day if there was any left but the attitude of the staff was terrible. We had been advised drinks were included in the fully inclusive deal but this was only the local beer / wine which you could strip paint with! Fire alarms were going off throughout the day and night and the hotel had no water for some of the time we were there.

I would recommend people to never go to this badly maintained, badly run hotel.

After reading several bad reviews i was very worried but i have to say they were mostly unjustified. Yes the pool music is loud and leaves alot to be desired but it never went on past 11pm and you don't have to stay around the pool. The pool itself is cloudy but that is because they use salt tablets rather that chlorine, it is cleaned every morning!!!

The resort is very quiet but it's just a short (cheap) taxi ride to the towns, i reccommend the hotel taxis rather that the blue & white's, they are at a fixed price and they will pick you up again whenever you want.

The food at the hotel isn't great but you can eat out for hardley anything and the food it excellent.

The hotel also has it's own diving centre if you're into that and if you're not it has a hairdressing and beauty salon and a very good masseur!!!

All in all the holiday was great and i would reccommend the hotel to anyone.

we arrived in egypt on the 17th july 2006 as soon as we got to the hotel all the staff seemed really friendly especially the buskboy he was very helpful with all of our cases. we arrived at 11 in the night but the entertainment had finished the bar was still open so we stayed out for a drink as soon as we sat down a member of the annimation came over and started talking to uslovely man who's called sam wishing us a happy holiday. we spent most of the time by the pool there was music played from 10am to 12pm the music was for teenagers which i loved and so did the adults. The bar tenders were very friendly and chatty. There was fun and games for the kids of a day like volleyball 3 of the annimation team joined in and played ahmed who has left now but he was a lovely man, katherine a wonderful girl and nice to get along with and oscar very good with the children always up for a laught. In the night the entertainment was good strong man shows on a friday night wonderful really good bellly dancers then after that had finished the clud dance was done everybdy gets up and dances to all different music. The rooms were really clean aircon was excellent,The hotel shops were lovely really nice people in the hotel. i coudn't say a bad thing about the hotel or any of its staff. i would love to go back there next year and hope any one who is going to this hotel finds it as nice as i did

Brilliant time!

from Beany1
I vistied with a friend beginning August 05, we both had a brilliant time and did not want to leave! neema bay is great and very cheap to get to by taxi(use the ones from the hotel and not the blue ones, very scary ride!), there is also a free shuttle bus from the hotel.

The hotel was very basic but most of the staff were very friendly. At first we were given a room on the ground floor but the balcony doors did not close or lock (not very safe as 2 girls alone!) and the room was full of kittens! we asked to move & this was fine, however the recep staff did not seem to be bothered to find out what the actual problem was. The air cond was not great and we had a problem with no water for 1 day but that was sorted out quite quickly. The food was very basic with a few weird combinations but it was edible, we were half board so ate out in Neema bay a few times for very reasonable price. We both fell very ill for 3 days which was a shame as it took away a large part of our holiday as we were only there a week, as soon as you feel ill see your rep - he was very helpful. we were warned about the money as being a possible cause as it does not get replaced so is extremely dirty.

The Entertainment team worked very hard, Sam was on his own as the rest were on holiday, it was a little repetitive but this is common at all hotels.

We booked two trips - day trip to Cairo by caoch, the pyramids are fantastic & a must see ,if you are claustrophobic do not go inside very enlosed & extremley hot!! Unfortunately we were too ill to go on the boat trip to snorkel in the red sea however we only ever heard how amazing it was, i would love to go back just to get the opportunity to do that!
