This is not a Hotel, it doesnt deserve the Title Hotel. Its old, dirty, run down, its so old the phone system is operated througha 1930's switch board ( no joke). Absolute disgrace in this day and age to called it a Hotel let alone give it a "star" rating, inult to Real Hotels.

I 'lived' in the Sun Set Hotel for 8 months while my property here in Luxor was being completed and I can very highly recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Luxor on a tight budget and who wants a clean, friendly hotel to stay in. From the moment I arrived I was treated like one of the family and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. The rooms are clean and comfortable, each with en-suite bathroom and satelitte tv although the choice of english speaking channels are limited to 2 or 3. The food was always very tasty and enjoyable,very reasonably priced and available 24 hours. The hotel does not have an alchohol license but does not object to guests bringing in their own. The Sun Set is located very close to the centre of Luxor and is within 10 minutes walking distance of the very beautiful Luxor Temple. It is also situated near to the 'local' shopping area where you can experience the day to day life of the egyptian people and buy whatever you need at 'egyptian' price. What more could you ask for around 10 pounds sterling per night than a clean, comfortable bed, breakfast and a warm friendly atmosphere.

Top Local Tips for Luxor

Don't Eat It! Even if you are tired of fried foods- don't eat the salads, cheese, milk, fruit, anythign raw!! At least there is always bread. Trust me I ate the kebabs on the street and paid for it until the end of my trip.
