Finding decent eats in Luxor Several mainstream restaurants in Luxor (Kababje) are alright. But for decent value on take-out (or take-away, however you say it) try the Gasr Khair (Friendly Stranger) restaurant near the train station. If you're facing the Nile from the station entrance, turn left and walk past the mosque on the east side (left) of the street until you get to the place selling rotisseri chicken. There's probably bakhour burning outside in a kanun. There guys who run the place seem a little gruff at first but they're okay and the food is good. Get the tomato and potato stew with the chicken and rice.
