Fantastic hotel, fantastic service, fantastic people. Been 2 years in a row and going again soon. By far the best hotel in Luxor. Kids loved it. We would recommend this hotel to anyone, can't wait to get back there amazing.

Not as bad as they say

I have just returned from a week stay here and must say that it was not as bad as portrayed by some other reviewers. Yes it is probably more like a 3 *** than a 5 *** hotel but it is clean if somewhat tired looking. I stayed in a Nile view junior suite and was very happy with the room. I believe you can upgrade from a normal room for about £10 per night. I would not reccomend fully inclusive as the food is not particularly exciting & it is on average about £5 to eat in other restaurants in town. The food in general in Luxor is pretty awful but I had 3 very good meals at the Royal Oak Pub restaurant a hundred yards or so past the hotel. This restaurant is British owned and I had an absolutely fantastic Sunday roast there for £3.50. They have 3 sittings & you need to book as it is very popular.

Do not go to the Bombay Palace across the road the food is dreadful! The new Kentucky fried chicken is also very good if you have fussy children who dont want the hotel food.

The bar prices in the hotel are £2.00 for a 500ml lager & the food is also reasonably priced. The staff are friendly apart from reception and they did expect tips but did not hassle if you did not give anything.

If you go there expecting a 3*** hotel I don't think you will be too disappointed

We returned from Egypt two days ago, after spending a week at the Isis Hotel, we stayed B&B - the breakfasts were very good, a wide selection from fresh fruit and yogurts to cooked meats and salads to eggs and sausages (bit like frankfurts) and pancakes to pastries and breads with jam - juice and coffee and tea. There was also a type of eggy pudding which was also good. They also had white sliced bread and a toaster for those who werent so adventerous. The rooms was good, although the decor was dated, the room was cleaned very well each day. The room had a TV and fridge, with sattilite channels, the reception was not brilliant, but if there was any problem the staff on reception dealt with it straightaway. We returned one day and the room hadnt been cleaned so I mentioned it to the reception, straightaway the room was cleaned while we went out for dinner and a lovely rose put in a vase as an apology - a really nice touch. the pools were very nice and cleaned each day, the staff expected tipping but if you didnt tip them they did not complain. Each evening there was a small band playing and singing English songs, although one night there was an egyptian lady belly dancing to egyptian songs which was fun, she was staying at the hotel with her family so it was all impromptu. The drinks and dinners were slightly more expensive eating in than out at regular restaurants but the staff were attentive and very nice. We brought our bottled water each evening at the bar which was around 50p for a large bottle. Breakfasts were served from 5am till 10am so they catered for all types of people staying. All in all a really good time and we would stay again and recommend the place to others. I would rate it at a 3 star hotel up to a 4 star.

Great Location

Brilliant views; right on the edge of the nile looking out to the west bank.

There were two pools and the one on the left was freezing
and the one on the right was warm, being a heated pool.

The room was large but the furniture and decor somewhat outdated and a bit shabby for a 5 star. However, we were comfortable and since we spent most of our time out seeing the sights we weren't too bothered.

We were on half board and the restraunt served a great breakfast and dinner. The fish was the best dinner option and the crossionts the best for breakfast.

The best bit about this hotel is how easy it is to get from it to the temples. You could even walk if you don't mind being hasseled by everyone along the way.

We were really impressed by this hotel. We didn't know what 'star' to expect, as we'd read so many contradictory reports. I'd say 4*-high 3*. Our room was lovely, with the most amazing view over the beautiful gardens, the Nile and the Valleys of the Kings/Queens.
Breakfast was the same every day, but there was a wide choice - I usually ended up eating the pastries!
Air conditioning was effective. Rooms were cleaned well each day.
The only thing that got on our nerves was the constant hassle we had around the pool - masseurs trying to convince us to have a massage 4 or 5 times a day (for approx. £10GBP/half hour). My mum had one in the end - she did say it was amazing, but we just wanted to be left alone by the pool!
The view at the back of the hotel was breathtaking, as mentioned before.
Upon leaving the hotel, however, you will be completely bombarded by taxi drivers, horse and cart drivers, people trying to get you into their shops, etc. It will drive you crazy eventually.
But the hotel is thoroughly recommended!

One of the better hotels in Luxor, it has a great swimming pool and a number of restaurants on site. We went b&b and were very impressed with the breakfast - lots of variety and constant coffee refills! Karnak is about 2km away but the horse and carriage is abour 50 egyptian pounds there and back and they will wait for you whilst you are there. Lots of hassle outside hotel but if you get over this the area outside is quite good - a few restaurants and shops to have a look around. We upgraded to a Nile view with balcony - would certainly not recommend the city view if you enjy sitting on the balcony - for just £60 quid we had one of the best views of the Nile around - right at the front of the hotel. Staff were friendly and efficient but the reviews are correct - they want a tip for opening a door for you! Advice is to tip often but small amounts - if they complain about the amount take it back! Don't tip the children if approached outside the hotel - its wrecking the economy as the beggers are earning more than the workers and therefore no-one wants to work! Rooms are to a good standard and are clean, and the balconies are a reasonable size also. There is a fridge in the room. TV is mainly arabic but a few english channels also with subtitles. Location is good as you are right on the front of the Nile - the sunset from the pool is amazing and there is a nice bar to watch it from. All very safe and secure I have to say. I'd recommend is anyway - rooms are good,location a little futher out but worth it because of the noise levels which are low, and the food is cheap. Its a relaxing place to spend a day after the heat of the sites - you could be almost anywhere when in the hotel apart from the ever present views of the Nile! Quality of food is below average in Egypt - don't expect much! Having said that, do you really go to Eygpt for the food?

Stayed for 2 days following Nile Cruise and as our room faced the front we copped a lot of traffic noise and mosque chants. on asking to be moved to room on other side of hotel we were told " no " in no uncertain terms,( and I know that those rooms were not occupied ) But the bar staff and restaurant staff were all very pleasant in their mannewr which made it a little easier to relax... I"d suggest checking out other hotels before settling on this one

My friend and I spent a week touring the Nile on the Karim Palace and a week in the Pyramissa hotel. While we thought the cruise was a bit disappointing because we only actually cruised the Nile in the daytime for about one and half days and the rest either sailing overnight or tied up to another ship and if you were lucky your view was not blocked by the other ships, although disapointed with the size of the bathrooms ( would be better if they took out the slipper bath and just put in a shower) and the deckside pool it was more of a dipping pool than a swimming pool, but because I cannot swim it didn't make any difference to me. I cannot praise the staff enough they were both very helpful and polite and nothing was too much trouble for them.

As regards the Hotel my friend and I thought it was very,very good, it was big spacious and excepionally well kept, the bedrooms were big, clean with excellent views over the Nile, there was a good choice of food both inside and outside the dining area and the waiters were there at your side to take your orders, like the cruise, the staff in every part of the Hotel were there to make your holiday a happy one.

If people didn't enjoy themselves there, to my mind they are just people who would never be satisfied with any holiday. My friend and I loved it and as we are both pensioners we enjoyed the fuss they made of us.

Just back from Egypt one week cruise / and one week at the Pyramisa we found the Hotel excellent, food not two bad /lots of it. Hotel very clean / staff very friendly. we felt it was a great place to stay.
We meet some very lovely people, british and Egyptian
who we are going to keep in touch with,

Not a North Americian 5 Star but good

The hotel was good but you have to realize that a 5 star in Eygpt is not comparable to a 5 star in North America or in the UK. Also we paid extra for a room with a view as the rooms facing the street are very noisy. This proved to be an excellent choice, as we enjoyed the room with a view and the lack of street noise and smell of the room facing the street. We found the front desk staff very helpful and friendly.
The food on the buffet is adequate and plentyful.
The gardens were well kept and overal we felt the hotel was kept clean as was our room. The large pool was too cold to swim in but the smaller pool was heated and was just fine. Both were well maintained and clean.
The internet service was slow but there is an internet outlet at the Lotus Hotel just down the street which is excellent.
Overal the hotel was fine. We travel extensively and once you realize that 5 stars in Eygpt is not 5 stars in the UK or North America everything is fine.

We would recommend this hotel based on good value for the buck. It is comparable to a 3 star property.

We just returned from travelling 2 weeks in Egypt, and we stayed 2 days at Pyramisa Isis Hotel Luxor. Overall, the experience was great. The staff were helpful to make sure you enjoy your stay; and like some reviews mentioned before, they were keen to help without expecting to be tipped at the first instant (perhaps except for the Bell staff). Facilities were sufficient, there was even a heated pool. The downsides were (in our opinion) the staff should be more relax and smile more often, and some parts of the hotel needed updating to maintain its 4/5 star rating.

Top Local Tips for Luxor

CAREFUL WHERE YOU EAT. Always take wipes with you, after handling money. Never drink the water, even clean your teeth with bottled.We took Priobotic capsules, 2months before we went, and didnt have any problems&we were there for 4weeks.

Taxi rides to and from the station Luxor is a small city if you stay within the tourist areas. I wouldn't pay a driver more than 10 egyptian pounds to go most places in the tourist area, including the train station. In fact its really nice to walk around luxor and especially down by the nile! Do not let the drivers be pushy with you and if they are just walk away and they will start singing a different tune.

Get a local taxi driver - and hang on to him! Luxo can be made less of a travel shock by pre-booking an English speaking taxi driver to pick up from the airport and act as a guide for the week at times and with an itinerary to suit you. It is not expensive and means that you can see the real, off the tourist route Luxor - if you wish. Also not expensive to do. If you want to do the same as us, we used a chap called Tayeb Omran - look him up on Google! We even ate with his family twice, which gave us a great insight into rural life there.
