The whole family stayed in this hotel for a week over christmas and we really liked it. The rooms (we had triples) were of a good size and most importantly very clean. The bathroom and shower was nice, and there is a tv and mini-fridge available. The staff were corteous and welcoming, including the maids. The only thing we found lacking was in the breakfast, although there was a lot available (croissants, pastries, eggs and omlettes, along with a lot of spreads) the orange juice was always watered down, as was the milk! Apart from this we had a very pleasent stay, the staff are lovely, as are the locals, everyone was very helpful.

Top Local Tips for Luxor

Don't bother to pay for Airport transfers to and from your hotel My travel agent was asking £85 for return transfers between Luxor hotel and Philippe Hotel. Considering I paid just over twice that for flights & 7 nights half board - I felt it was just too expensive! And I'm glad now I didn't shell out for it - there are lots of taxis outside the airport - all asking for £10 sterling - don't pay that - agree on 50 Egyptian £'s (a fiver in sterling) - And that's generous as the real fare is only about half that but hey, these people are so poor compared to us, it's embarrassing and demeaning haggling over £2.50! So I ended up paying £10 sterling for return taxis to the airport instead of £85 the travel agent was asking for! I'd rather line the pocket of an Egyptian taxi driver anyday over a greedy travel agency boss!

Hassle Free. Just say No. to all the hasslers, esp the carriage/boat guys once they leech onto you, they'll take you and your money for a ride. They will take you only where they will earn a commision. Book trips with local agents, better service. Walking to local market, young boys will also leech on, again just be harsh, they soon get the message. Overall a wonderful experiance. Try the 4am balloon trip.

buying stuff in egypt there are no prices on anything yes ANYTHING so everything is negotiable so heres a tip and remember it because i learned the hard way on the first day, whatever price your seller gives you didvide it by 4 and then start to bargain and if you get for half what he asked your still being done i promise you its true so ie item =100 egyptian pounds offer him 25 then bargain and barter and i guarantee you get it for at worst 50
