The best I have been to!
I went in the begining of July with 7 other girlfriends. As it was our first holiday we did not know much but after having been on several holidays I believe I can give a fair review of the Mercure Inn. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Rooms are Very clean and so was the pool. breakfast was delicious and we always had fresh fruits. The two guys who sell the jewelery in the reception area.. VERY FUNNY! Good hotel - would definitely go back!

Excellent !!
Me and my friend from work went to the mercure inn last week, we had heard mixed reviews but decided to take them with a pinch of salt. People kept telling us how bad it was for 2 young girls to go to egypt on their own, so we were a bit nervous. Once there, we didnt need to worry, the hotal staff were extremly friendly and looked after us well. They told us how much we should pay for various things and told us where to go. The hotel was clean and spacious, and a short walk from the bars along the nile. I would definately go back again !!

Strongly recommend
Excellent service and friendly staff. Always served with a smile and made to feel that nothing was too much trouble. Rooms clean and tidy although a bit dated but not something to worry about. Room cleaning staff great and the towel swans very different. Each day you wondered what would be different in the room when you returned. Only drawback was the food. Not of the best standard and if I went again would not go half board as there very other places to eat that were better. This may have been because it was very quiet on an evening and you felt that everything was from previous days. Saying that the service could not have been better with a chef on hand in the morning to cook omelettes etc.
The hassle you got outside the hotel for taxis and the horse drawn carriages was a bit wearying but it goes with the country so just be polite and keep saying no and you will be ok. Ask for Ali and he will arrange the carriage and a taxi if you want to go to valley of the kins etc.

Highly Recommended
My wife and I had read various reviews of the Mercure Inn before we booked the hotel through Thomsons. We could not have asked for a more cleaner, friendly, hospitable place. The staff were wonderful and helpful, particularly Hamdy the assistant head waiter. The food was good and not to expensive (£6.50 for the evening buffet). Breakfast was buffet service but a chef was in attendance to cook your eggs, omelettes and toast. Evening meals were themed each night either international, French, Italian or Mexican. Service was always with a true smile. Rooms were basic but clean and serviced every day. If there is any drawback it is the taxi ranks and caleche drivers waiting to pounce on you when you leave the entrance of the hotel but if you ignore them and carry on walking they will eventually give up. We found an excellent taxi driver very early in our holiday his name is Hossen and he drives taxi number 234 (Mobile No 0102641957). The other taxi drivers didn't worry us when they knew tha...Read more

Quality Bargain
Bargain priced quality hotel, probably 3 star but who cares, food was very good. Friendly staff not pushy at all. Location is excellent, right in the middle of Luxor just off the main square very close to the Nile and temple. Lots of good cheap local restaurants on your doorstep, very friendly helpful cab drivers on rank near front drive of hotel. If I go back to Luxor I would go back as hotel was superb. Checked out other so-called 5 star hotels whilst in Luxor but they weren't up to much.
