Ranks among the top 5 hotels I have ever been to
from AvidTravellerDubAmazing - Best Hotel in Luxor!
from CaitlinKWe arrived quite early from a nile cruise, and were immediately greeted with the warmest welcome. Being a Diamond VIP, I was checked in at a special desk. During check-in my boyfriend and I were each brought a glass of welcome drink. Even though it was only 9am, we were given a room and told to go enjoy their breakfast downstairs! We were upgraded to Deluxe room, which had a nice view of the Nile. The room was nice, and was a good size. I liked that the bath amenities were the larger sized ones. One word of caution, be careful with the chair at the computer desk area. I sat on it and immediately broke it and fell on the ground. I called the front desk and they brought a new one quickly...but I can't figure out how I broke a rather new chair when I only weigh 105lbs...just be careful. The grounds were spectacular, it was nearly like being on an oceanfront or beachfront property, not riverfront. The pool, the sheesha bar, the fire pits, the outdoor spaces, EVERYTHING were all wonderful. The staff were all so amazing! Every one was so friendly and helpful. Every single staff we encountered were excellent!
The concierge staff helped us on several occasions on booking a hot air balloon ride, getting a private taxi guide, and even helping with a airline issue. It seemed the concierge worked commission-free, but I can't say for certain. The management was top-notch! We were sent fruit plates, chocolate plates, fruit juices, everyday compliments of the management! Having stayed in many resorts with top level status, the Hilton Luxor blows everybody else out of the water! We were even comped the internet for our entire stay!
The buffet breakfast was out of this world! Best alcohol-free buffet breakfast ever! The fresh juices were amazing. Best of all, the breakfast was free! I could hardly believe it. i would have gladly paid top $ for this breakfast.
We tried a couple of their restaurants, and room service. Again, amazing service. The pool service and sheesha lounge were great, too. I couldn't believe how reasonable the prices were!
There was also a free hotel shuttle that took us into town on a scheduled basis. We used this service once, and it nice. The only thing was we waited nearly a half hour before the shuttle driver finally showed up at its scheduled time, but they were willing to adjust the schedule so that we didn't lose out on any time spent in town(we were the only ones using the shuttle). They were
One of the supervisors who worked in Dubhai before, and originally from Bali(I can't remember his name now) really made our stay wonderful. He was so friendly and really got to know us. He even came by to say hello during our Christmas Eve dinner at their restaurant. Everyone went out of their way to make us feel so special.
The thing that topped off our entire trip is we let the concierge know we needed a taxi to take us to the airport. We were flying out very early(5am) on Christmas Day. I'm not sure if they had a hard time finding a willing driver, but I get a phone call in my room telling us that the hotel shuttle will take us to the airport free of charge. This was really going above and beyond since we were leaving at 4am on Christmas Day and the shuttle doesn't usually go to the airport.
This is by far the best hotel as far as service goes! The hotel itself was also very beautiful, but the service just made it a million times better! I will definitely come back to stay here, even if it means making a special trip to Luxor again. Simply amazing.
Exceeds Expectations - Refurb makes this the Best Hotel in Luxor/Karnak
from arrivalloungeThe ground of the hotel have been spectacularly done - with an infinity pool on the Nile and another larger pool on the nile banks complete with pool bar and loungers. The setting can not be more idyllic with tranquil views of the west bank under the brilliant Egyptian sun.
The hotel is not packed with package tours and so you don't have bus loads of tourists in and out which gives it a boutique feel (also in design which tries to evoke a boutique feel). This is priceless as you will see most other hotels closer to Luxor are package tour hubs.
The hotel is walking distance to Karnak temple and also to Luxor town (about 30 mins) or a short taxi.
The staff were gentle, polite and never ever once tried to sell you on any tours/packages or the like unless you yourself inquired.
The spa rooms are located on the nile and at sunset this is a magical spot for a treatment. I got a wonderful massage but would recommend a reflexology at sunset so you can watch it.
For my birthday, the staff brought me a cake and candle to the room with compliments and made every effort to make sure our stay was impeccable.
I highly rate this hotel and ammenities. Even if you are a seasoned luxury traveller this will meet if not exceed your expectations and is well beyond what most people might class as 'just another hilton'.
Second to none in Luxor...
from powtoGuest rooms are nicely done up and, yes they served goodies every afternoon for my room too (perhaps due to me being a hilton honors member)
Pool side area is great... right beside the nile and looking over to the Valley of the Kings... great way to end the evening as u gaze into the sunset from the poolside...
The spa therapist that they have is really good.... esp after couple of hard days walking ard under the hot sun. My shoulder is really bad and has been for years and i have gone to many therapists who cant seem to get round to "releasing" the tension... but this one did. I went TWICE...
The hotel takes u away from the hustle and bustle of Egypt which is what one needs after being bothered by every other guy on the street trying to sell you something or ask you to get onto their horse carriages. Having said that, the hotel is not on the main street where all the tourists but it aint too far away either.. i say walking distance to places like Karnak Temple and perhaps Luxor Temple. The hotel offers shuttle service to certain places of interests (but check the schedule)
Enjoy!
Exceptional, a must stay in Luxor
from sbsmithflBest hotel in Egypt - Resort Vibe
from dlmhiAs the hotel just opened, our stay was enhanced with a staff to guest ratio that seemed about 10:1. Reception staff offered many amenities, and assisted with anything you needed such as: Breakfast boxes to go, cashing traveler's checks (they went to bank for us since bank in hotel wasn't yet open), booking side trips, and offering helpful advice such as reasonable amounts to pay for cabs. We were always called by name by all staff.
The pools are exquisite. An infinity pool (wrapped around a poolside bar - Oasis - that makes great homemade lemonade) overflows into a standard pool that has beach chairs in it. Massive capony beds are on the edge of the Nile - there was no charge during our stay for this, which in the US can run up to $250/day for poolside private canopies - (not sure if they would change this later). Pool staff seemed to do things for you every 5 minutes including: moving umbrellas, saving your loungers all day (admittedly, we saw two other people in the pool over 2 days), coming over with Evian spritzes, refreshing wet towels, and moving side tables into pool loungers. Modest tips (by American standards) for the day to pool staff were greatly appreciated, and unlike most Egyptian service providers, the staff did not hassle or openly request or even suggest you tip them - this was very refreshing after being in Egypt for a week.
The outside lounge areas (Moroccan style at Sunset lounge) included a free evening performance by two great (and relaxing!) Fijian musicians. Again, the musicians got to know your name, and even sat down with us at dinner. The shi-sha bar (Diwan) on the Nile also had two staffers who sat down with us the whole time, and taught us newbies how to smoke shi-sha and told us their family stories. Food was fantastic and wide variety of Western and Middle Eastern, especially the dinner buffet area (Rosetta), which included made to order seafood and pasta. We ate at Rosetta, Silk Road (great Asian/Indian food), and Olives (good casual, reasonably priced outdoor lunch). The free breakfast had a selection almost the size of the dinner buffet. Would be hard for anyone to not find a full plate of what they love. We enjoyed made to order shrimp linguine (at Rosetta) on our American Thanksgiving and didn't think twice about missing turkey! The prices were similar to other Western hotels in Egypt (much higher than you pay on the 'outside' and similar to dinners at high-class hotels in US), but the quality was significantly better than the other Western hotels we stayed at in Egypt (Marriot in Cairo, Ramses Hilton in Cairo, and Sonesta Moon Goddess).
The average-sized room had a large balcony overlooking the Nile (I believe we were in a 'deluxe' room). Opening the balcony curtains and door was a great way to take a relaxing nap. The beds were very comfortable. The bathroom included a large spa-like stone shower. Big new flat-screen TV with lots of channels, including premium movies and many languages. The highlight of the room was that each afternoon, we'd come back from the pool to find a huge tray of goodies - the first day was a Chocolate theme, all types of chocolate temptations (great pastries and goodies made by chef - didn't find anyhting as good anywhere in Egypt, and rarely in US), and the second day was variations on Mango - my favorite day! My traveling partner is a Hilton Diamond member, so I can't be certain that all guests would receive the same free amenities. That said, he's never been treated this lavishly from any other Hiltons he's stayed at (esp in US), including the so-so stay at Hilton Ramses in Cairo. The hotel definitely focuses on spoiling its guests.
Didn't get a chance to see the Spa, which was not yet open during our stay. As we didn't have to compete with any other guests for any service (reception advised that about 10 ppl were currently at hotel), I would rank this as the best hotel stay I've ever had. I hope this hotel can continue to provide the same level of service and hospitality once the masses begin to arrive, and I guarantee, they will come. The staff is very professional, dedicated, personable, charming, and some even waited out the renovation to get these jobs back. I could easily see this resort pulling in some of the Sharm El Sheik crowd, and eventually ranking #1 in Luxor after more people visit. Though you might miss out on some of the extra services in the soft opening phase, I would suggest visiting before it's bustling!
Absolutely perfect
from roaches02Excellent Hotel
from ECelebiWe stayed a total of three nights and loved every aspect of the Hotel. The Hotel has just been renovated (November 2008) and all rooms and facilities were of the highest standard. The hotel has a very modern, yet authentical and pleasing look including the rooms.
Besides being walking distance to Karnak Temple one can spend the whole day at the hotel, in one of the three restaurants or the Diwan (a shisha, relaxation area) and by the pool side.
The Hotel has a very nice swimming pool and in addition the SPA facillities will open very soon boasting with a very nice SPA landscape, separate treatment rooms an infinity swimming pool as well as SPA suites (each equipped with it's own mini-SPA) such as a jacuzzi as well as steam room.
Furthermore the food at the restaurants is really excellent.
Last but not least the staff really made a difference (front-desk, concierge, pools staff, breakfast staff...). Really friendly, authentic and caring service.
Make sure that you get a room with Nile view.
Brilliant
from bradly1234512345Brand new Hilton Luxor
from Trave1spyThe spa is yet to open, sometime in December I believe but I can imagine this will also be fabulous.
I have stayed at many Hilton hotels and this is by far one of the best. Considering you are in Egypt it really is amazing, the other hotels just can't compare. We stayed at the Sofitel also but the Hilton win's hands down.
When you search for the Hilton online make sure you get the up to date website as the old still appears. It should come up first on Google.
Top Local Tips for Luxor
Don't miss the view Make sure you book a room facing the Nile - you don't want to miss out on the views!
Hot air balloon The hot air balloon trips in Luxor are definitely worth it - quiet, peaceful, and great views of the Valley. However, there is no need to spend the extra money (approx $50 more) on the 'luxury' trips which include a t-shirt (that's hand painted and you'll give away or leave in Egypt) and coffee/pastries. You have 2 minutes to drink a cup of instant coffee while on a boat. Most hotels in Egypt offer free full breakfasts, so it's best to save your money and go with the cheaper balloon companies that aren't charging for worthless extras and enjoy the hotel breakfast when you return from your early morning trip.
hot air balloon ride Make sure you take a hot air balloon ride over the valley fo the kings.
