Staff were lovely, very helpful to us when my mother (73) was taken very ill. Locals were a pain in the rear end would not leave my daughter alone, totally spoilt her break, which was needed after losing my dad. There were only 3 other English families around which was disappointing. On a positive note, the entertainment crew were fantastic. Goin back to red sea, but not this hotel

I cant understand ppl who find this hotel bad, my husband and I, who are extremely fussy have spent two wonderful holidays in one yr at this hotel, and found the whole thing a wonderful experience, as for it being full of Russians, so what, they are the same with us as we are with them, if u take the trouble to greet them, and not have this awful attitude that some Brits seem to have with them, we found them a joy to communicate with, and will hopefully go to the sultan many more times, as for rooms they are aging a little but had no probs at all with cleanliness or noise, staff and food excellent, we think ppl should relax more and stop looking for negatives. Well don’t sultan staff. We have made many lovely friends there including Russians. Polish, German, Check, and Dutch. Much nicer ppl than most Brits.

My husband took me to the Sultan beach as a surprise holiday, but after reading the hotel reviews the day before we went we thought that we were going to the holiday from hell. When we arrived we were really surprised at how lovely the hotel was. The first room that we had was right outside the late bar, and was a bit noisy at night, but the staff were brill and moved us the next day with no fuss at all. Like most of the reviews say, the hotel was mainly Russian and German people, but thats to be expected as they account for most of the tourists in Hurghada. The staff were all really friendly, and really seemed to like the English guests, and were always asking us why there weren't more English tourists, something we couldn't understand either. The food was lovely, buffet style and loads of choice. Evening meal was 7 -10 but we found that it was really busy at 7, so left it until 8, when all of the hussle and bussle had died down. The hotel was lovely and clean, we had a room clean, inc clean towels and sheets everyday (if you tip well, the cleaners make really pretty things with the towels and fresh flowers on your bed, which i thought was a really nice touch) Some of the furniture was a little worn, but it wasn't broken. The private beach is clean but the coastal part is small, but plenty of room for aerobics and volleyball etc. There are loads of sun loungers and the pool is quite big. One thing thats really worth taking advantage of is the massages in the hotel, the most expensive being £14 for an hr and they also offer discounts the more you book. Our holiday was booked through Odyssey travel. I'd really recommend doing some of the trips they recommend, the scuba, dessert and mahmaya beach were excellent, and we heard the luxor and cairo trip were amazing. The reps were around our age and we got on really well with them, you really couldn't fault them. They knew the trips that we went on inside out, so we always ended up in the best seats and at the front of the queue, they even managed to get us on stage with the belly dancing and snakes on the baddawya trip. I'd definately recommend attending the initial rep briefing as you get loads of info on how much to tip, how much to pay for taxis and egyptian culture etc really valuable information. I have rated the hotel at a 9, the lost point was because the bar was quite small and shut at 10. We were all inclusive and only wines, local spirits, soft drinks and beer were free. The other bar which was open late you had to pay in, but it did have entertainment. Big brother across the road was quite popular with the guests who wanted late drinks (also v cheap)

Was pointed out by rep on way to hotel that it would not be what we expected as the food was poor and was 90% Russians. How wrong he was, it was worse. 98% Russians who paid only a third of what we paid. Food variety poor and of poor standard. like a pack of hyenas in the restaurant were the Russian guests, most of whom probably hadn't got hold of oranges in Russia as they took bags of them. They were rude, arrogant, loud, drunk and a right pain. Hotel staff were friendly and as helpful as they could be. Rooms were poor, bed linen torn, no electricity in room when first arrived, then moved sue to noise and was just as bad with partying Russians on balconies. All inclusive very limited with bar closing at 10pm and beer served indoors in plastic cups. Where those folks giving this place 9 points stayed I do not know, or maybe that is the standard they have at home. it certainly is not what I expect of a 4 star hotel and I've stayed in a few in Egypt, but this was the worst hotel I have ever been in so don't even think about it. You would have a better time in Siberia as it would be quieter as all the gulags residents are at the Sultan Beach.

I don't know why people complain about this hotel. The staff were kind and helpful. I didn't take all inclusive, but breakfast and dinner were enough for me. The food was good, and quite big selection of dishes. Animation programm was also very nice, the animators did their best to entertain the tourists: they organised morning stretching, water gymnastic, aerobic, dance lessons, games sports and many others. The rooms are big enough, with balcony (but it depends on the floor which you are staying, one or two don't have neither tarace nor balcony)or with a large tarace, which connects all the rooms on the same floor. They're clean, towels are changed every day. Also, when you get to the hotel you are given a card, thaks to which you can have a towel on the swimming pool and the beach. The hotel is situated in teh centre of the tourist part of Hurghada, so that you can go to many shops, pubs and restaurants. Swimming pool is quite big, and near the beach you can dive among small coral reef. I had lovely holidays there and I recommend this hotel to everyone. If i stayed in Hurghada once again I would certainly choose this hotel.

Worst hotel I've ever stayed in. Full of Russians who were rude, extremely arrogant, permanently drunk on vodka, couldn't talk to each other but shout at one another. This was a siberian gulag and I only lasted one day, move to the Hilton up the road which was far superior and had no complaints about. So I'm giving this place a generous one on the ratings. Stay somewhere else, trust me on this one.

This hotel absolutely filthy .....Our room didn't even have a window just a door to a shared balcony ....the furniture was tatty and broken...We would have been the only British people there had we stayed !!! Which we didn't!!! We had to pay $1000 to stay in a decent hotel ....the tour operators all denied responsibility and wouldn't help us to find anywhere else to stay.....The so called beach is a dirty lagoon with a little sandy area !!!! The only good thing I have to say about this place is that the staff appeared friendly and concerned ....Oh yes and as all other reviews the Russians are really very unfriendly and rude !!!!

Please, be not afraid of Russian tourists. The senior generation has a guarded attitude to foreigners (it is a vestige of the Soviet foster), but young Russian with you will communicate to pleasure.

Quite a good hotel on the whole!

The rooms were spacious and clean, and the staff were friendly and efficient. We stayed on a half board basis, and although the breakfasts were fine, the evening meals were a bit tasteless & left a lot to be desired. The hotel is geared up for all-inclusive travellers, so I wouldn't choose this hotel again if staying half board or less. As was mentioned in a previous review, the hotel was full of Russian holidaymakers & by the end of my holiday, their attitude had really got up my nose!!

Not a bad hotel on the whole, very helpful and friendly staff. Be careful divers, when taking knives through the x-ray machine at hotel entrance, the police on the door will confiscate it, but you will get it back on departure. I used the place as a B&B in January because I went diving all day long, so it was great for that, however, the food is not that good in their and mainly caters for Russians. Most of the guests were Russian so I kept myself to myself because they are not friendly to Western Europeans. I would not stay again there but I would return to Hurghada, next time staying in the Hilton, up the road.
