Nice hotel spoilt by unsavory incident

The La Perla hotel is a nice hotel, with good food, presented Buffet style. Our room was basic and lacking some storage space, but perfectly acceptable. Hot water was only avialable for a short period in the morning and evening, with limited pressure. The location is good, being 200-300 Yrds from the "Old Vic" beach which is excallent and a couple of Km's to Sigala, which is the middle part of Hurghada. English guests are in the minority, being particularly popular with guests from the old Soviet Republic States. However BEWARE the Safe Robbers!!! Our stay was marred by the petty pilfering of £45 from the Hotel safe. The system is based on two keys, you have one and the Hotel Management retain the other. The result is that you have to request access by Hotel management and they accompany every Safe visit! This serious incident was a shame and strongly denied by the Hotel, however it left a sour taste in the mouth regarding what could have been a very pleasing stay.

Well I know I wanted a relaxing Holiday but this was ridiculous, I went with my partner and we could not wait for our one weeks stay to be over, the hotel is FULL of Italians, in fact when we was there we were the ONLY English couple there, so you can imagine it wasn’t too good. We were Half Board and we only ate once and it was blooming horrible I mean disgusting we were ill for the full week of our holiday, the staff are friendly enough especially Tarek but the hotel on a whole is a disaster. I would not recommend anyone under the age of 30 to go there if you are looking for a little bit of nightlife because there is none. There is the Hardrock Cafe which is where we ate and went on a night but it is the same routine every single night. So I'm sorry La Perla but I really don’t rate you 2/10.

Inedible food & noisy

What can I say I read the reviews on this page before we went to get an idea of the place. We were not expecting luxery just a clean basic hotel to relax, eat and some sunshine. We paid for half board but only had one meal as the food was disgusting cold stodge bland and boring. Sat with other people we were not even asked and then the other couple started smoking - not nice if your a non smoker. Breakfast catered for all the Russians and Germans - salad, stew, breads cheeses etc No toast No cereals was not expecting full English breakfast. Our room overlooked the pool better than the ones over looking the extremely busy main road and all the unfinished grey buildings. We were mistaken music playing at night and people sitting outside. Woken every morning at 6.45am noise from staff music playing and doors banging not the relaxing holiday we had hoped for. On the Tues no hot water - was promised it would be hot within ten minutes this actually took 5 hours (10pm at night). Went to Reps meeting he was more interested in selling the trips rather than information on meal times etc. never told us we had to pay to go on the beach - although only 80p each it was the principle!Food was ok on beach 10 times better than the hotel. The Italian resturant in the same block very nice and modern however the service terrible - we walked out! The safari in the desert was good. The reason for our trip was for my husband to go diving which he booked on the beach with Twins Divers that was excellent value. Would we go again and stay at La Perla? A definate NO

Just got back from brilliant holiday. Our 18 year old daughter loved it too. Very friendly staff and very clean. Just needs repainting etc. Beach just over road and had a real fun time there. Book excursions from here (much cheaper than with tour operator)... found out too late! Eating out cheap and very good. It must have been good. We are going back in summer!

Relaxing at the Red Sea

The hotel is pretty basic and not flashy by any means but is clean and friendly! It’s now been open for 12years and the more you look the more you notice it’s starting to show its age, probably due to original build standard! All in all we had a good week, had interesting towel sculptures each day on return to room! Take mosquito killer or nets as every night they seem to get in the rooms without the windows or doors being open at all!!

Lovely holiday

This was our first time in Egypt. The La Perla hotel was average, nothing fancy or stuffy about it, but it was comfortable, clean and had great staff! The rooms were cleaned every day by 2 male cleaners who always had huge smile when we saw them. The waiters in the restaurant were spot on, you didn't sit with dirty plates in front of you, as soon as you finished your meal someone appeared as if out of thin air and the plates were whisked away. All the staff were helpful, friendly and spoke good English, apart from the cleaners who only seemed to know how to smile, but they were great. Every day they left your towel on the bed made into something clever, we had a flower, a swan, a cobra and even a baby. This may not be the highest star rating hotel I've ever stayed in but it was certainly the friendliest. The food was basic and a bit samey on half board basis but that's ok too coz eveything added up to a great holiday. Give them a go. A+
