just ok. bad food
from gregory44a nice location, big spacious rooms.
however the hotel is full of russians, the staff are not helpful and the food is bland. i am sure there are better hotels in the area.
Fantastic beautiful hotel.
from sof2021We initially came here for my mums 60th birthday and she loved it there. On the night of her birthday we went to the lagoona restaurant as we had secretly requested a birthday cake to be brought out at the end of the meal. The service was brilliant and they brought out a beautiful cake while singing happy birthday in english and arabic.
The staff were always friendly, when ever you walked past any of them they would be sure to greet you and would go out of there way to do anything for you.
The breakfast in the morning was gorgeous with a massive selection of food...Theres a guy making omlettes every morning, you just request what you want in your omlette and he makes it there and then right in front of you.
When we came back from a relaxing day on the beautiful beach we would find lovely towel arrangements on the bed decorated with flowers which was a really nice suprise.
if you tip10 egyptian pounds ( equivelent to £1 ) here and there to the house keeping, bell boys, beach staff and restaurant staff you will be well looked after.
Will 100% be going back here...we absolutly loved it.!!!!
Fantastic Hotel
from TitanTriggerGreat Hotel
from Jewels101Have to say we had a great time here,
The rooms were very well decorated, facilities were good - fully stocked mini bar, air con & heating, clean smart & modern. Loved the little touches and the way the towels were displayed.
Reception staff were very helpful and very friendly. Guest Relations, Camelia was an absolute star organising trips and checkouts and her advice was great.
The main buffet restaurant served a wide range of food, every night was a different theme, have to say I found the food very good, obviously not a 5 star restaurant, but still something for everyone - fish, beef, chicken, salads. The waiters here were very efficient and very friendly.
The Lobby bar, a very relaxing area to sit in the evening, have a few G&T's or a cocktail and watch the world go by. Have to say the waiters here were great, especially Emad who was always smiling and looked after us amazingly & very professionally!
The pool was quiet and relaxing and the beach was busy & noisy with the animation team, so whatever your needs they'll be met.
The health and leisure club facilities were fair, nothing special, think this area could do with a refurbishment but have to say I did enjoy the Cleopatra treatment.
Altogether a great stay!!
fantastic hotel
from kookyUpon arrival we got asked what kind of room we would like i.e sea view balcony etc.
The room was a good size and it was very clean and cleaned twice every day. We had a hairdryer, mini fridge, sat tv and our room had its own safe.
The staff were very friendly and they would do anything to make your stay better. The only downside was the staff at the reception desk, they didnt speak much English.
The food was buffet style and it was fantastic, not just based on the german guests. Each day the menu was based on a certain country, so got to explore a wide range of dishes.
The private beach was big and had plenty of parasols to go around, very clean and lovely soft sand to walk on, had its dive centre which was very expensive so would shop around. The guy next to the jewellry shop, closed his shop to go out and get me some painkillers, because he had non left, very kind!
s food really bad !
from Quiksilver_007Also it is necessary to pay attention to the money, the posted prices are not the real prices, the taxes should be added, and not proud with the bill on the TV, it is not always correct… when you pay take the account right because the reception tries always not to return the currency to you that they owe you ...
Nice hotel
from Antonio_JoseA.T. - Portugal
Excellent hotel at the price.
from frann48If you want 5* OK but you will pay upmarket prices and probably not get the same value for money as this hotel.
Scuba divers, Emperor Divers are on site and the dive boat is at the end of the jetty which is a short stroll from the hotel beach! It doesn't get much better than this! Trust me I've done Sharm and the scrum at the jetty is just a nightmare!
Enjoy this excellent hotel, Hilton really gives value for money at this hotel.
Restaurant staff very friendly
from AfcbwhOn arrival met by driver booked by hotel, transfer swift and problem free, check in swift however bags took an age to be delivered to our rooms.
Hotel attracts a large number of German and Russian guests on an all inclusive basis, the staff do not appear to be able to distinguish between all inclusive and other guests.
Staff very friendly especially Karim and Mohammed in the Blue Sky Restaurant.
The Poolside staff some of the rudest I have ever met, I would suggest using the private beach rather than the pool as the beach staff are really helpful and friendly.
The Diplomatic Suites are really roomy, very clean and comfortable they represent excellent value for money.
The hotel has a really helpful taxi desk, the cars are very clean modern european cars with very polite drivers and are always ontime.
There is not a lot to do locally other than diving and so I would suggest that this hotel is best suited to be your last port of call after a hectic nile cruise.
Overall it is good value for money, however the management need to train the staff to be mindful that not everyone is on a package holiday on an all inclusive basis.
Great value for the money - June 2006
from NB70The food in the a-la-carte restaurants was good and the snacks/sandwiches offered in the lounge and under the Lagoona restaurant near the beach are a good value. I would agree with the other reviewer that the lunch and dinner buffet's offered in the Blue Sky restaurant are overpriced and have poor selections and quality. However, the breakfast buffet which is normally included in the room price was perfect for us.
A tip if you stay here, take some time on your first day to go through the Travel Company books under the main staircase. They have lots of great information about what to do in the area and offer much more information that the items posted in the hallways. You can also compare prices with the different companies.
The hotel is somewhat isolated with a lonely and dusty path separating it from the nearest 'hot spot' around the Grand Hotel. Once we discovered this strip about 2km down from the hotel and a 1E.L. ride from the Hilton, we went everyday. There is a Hard Rock Cafe restaurant there as well as many other restaurants that offered good value. We had a particularly tasty meal at the Indian restaurant. Additionally, the strip (really just the one side of the street) was a nice escape from the extremely aggressive sales people you'll come across in Hurghada and elsewhere. Some may be run by the Grand as we were able to browse without the least interruption.
The weight room was the best equipped one we've ever seen in a hotel with a decent selection of freeweights. There is also internet access to be had from the rooms but beware the charges are steep and the download speed was rather slow for broadband. The hotel appears to be constructing an internet cafe at the moment so that might make things easier.
Overall, we would definitely stay at the Hilton again however we might just try to get a room at the Grand because it's in the heart of the 'strip' and doesn't require bargaining with the bus drivers to get there.
Top Local Tips for Hurghada
Upset stomach? If you find you have a queasy stomach, immediately stop asking for ice in your drinks, drink a hot cup of tea, coffee, etc., and whatever you do, keep the A/C at two or three degrees lower than the outside temperature. This allows your body to cope with the extreme heat externally by a gradula adjustment.
Getting around If using a taxi please make sure you agree a price before getting into the taxi as fares charged can vary greatly!! They will usually ask for more so haggle a bit!!
WATER SPORTS Look for good qulaity trip boats and diving schools. There are some very dubious looking vessels and seamnship practices. If you are diving ensure that your vessel has the normal diving safety equipment and a VHF radio.
