Bad rooms, awful service

This is one of the worst hotels I've stayed at. There was no soap and no shampoo (I asked the reception twice for soap; never got any), the reception is unresponsive and does its best to ignore you as long as possible (when checking in, I asked when my room would be ready, and they said 15 minutes; 15 minutes later, they told me 30 minutes; 30 minutes later, they told me 10 minutes; 10 minutes later, they told me 10 minutes again; 10 minutes later, I got in their face and they finally gave me a room, without further delay), the cleaner for my room took away the bathmat and provided nothing, the refrigerator in the room barely works, there are lots of mosquitos and a few flies, the bathroom has no lock, the lock on the front door has to be jiggled specially to be opened, there is a gap between the floor and the front door so bugs get in, the curtains on the windows were broken and could not close, there was no information in the room (you know how there's normally a folder or something with information about the hotel, hours for the pool, restaurant hours, etc.? Regina just provides an empty folder, and the reception assured me it's supposed to be empty), I had to interrogate the reception to find out when and where I could get my breakfast and dinner (provided by the hotel), there is no way to control the air-conditioning in the rooms (just an on/off switch), the TV gets exactly one channel in English (the Euronews channel) and several buttons on the remote control were covered by black tape used to hold the battery in. I have no complaints about the pool or the beach.

Not the worst hotel I've stayed at but not the best.

Good - brilliant pool, great staff, good breakfast, nice bar in pool, great cafe on beach, clean
Poor - one of our rooms had no working toilet nor air conditioning! Beach is grim, smelt of diesal fuel from all the boats.

I dont know what these people are on about but I stayed in this hotel for 2 nights and had no problems at all. I did not choose this as it was booked by the tour we was on. The rooms are quite big and the sheets looked clean to me. The bathroom was ok, nothing broken there, and the fridge was working. So much so that my water was so cold, it froze slightly, which is what i needed after a hot day in the sun!! The only downside was the service at dinner. We helped ourselves to 2 cups of tea and the waiter argued at my tour rep in arabic, telling him that we had to pay. They did not put any notice of this as this was included on a full board basis (we was on half board so we had to pay for any drinks consumed). We payed to avoid argument but the attitude from the staff was bad. I asked for a diet coke at one time and got a funny look from the waiter, even tho i was polite. I waited for almost 10 mins for it to come, but was handed an empty glass. Then waited about 5 mins for the actual drink!! I cant fault this hotel regarding the rooms and cleaniless as it was all adequate for me, except the friendlyness of the staff at meal times. Breakfast and dinner was rushed as the waiters couldnt
wait to take our plates when we hadnt finished eating... The beach at the back was ok, not big but adequate enough to sun bath for a while. Cant fault that either. Also there was no lift, so carrying luggage up 2 floors is a mission. We were suprised why there wasnt one as everything looked grand and marble like, but some reason, they
havent got on. Thats a warning if you intend to stay here and need a lift. Other than that, I wouldnt mind staying there again as the room
was clean, comfortable, and the bathroom was clean too. Maybe other people got a bad room?

We stayed here as the last part of our otherwise brilliant tour with Imaginative Traveller and would recommend other travellers to avoid the Regina Style. At first glance it seems quite upmarket, however, the Reception area is the only place to have had recent attention. We were in rooms which were sometimes used for timeshare clients. They were not clean, full of mosquitos and very poorly equipped. We were in a large group and all of us had various things wrong with our rooms, one family moved completely.
The breakfasts were a chaotic experience as most people staying here were Russians on full board, they arrived early at breakfast, and by the time we got there all the tables had been used, and as there were hardly any staff we had to clear our own table. On the first day we didn't get any tea or coffee as there were no cups. The staff all seem to have given up, and it was a real shock having had such lovely accommodation and service elsewhere in Egypt. Our tour rep was embarrased that we were staying at the Regina Style, and we have brought our concerns to the attention of the travel company.

I just have one advice: do not go to this hotel. It is terrible!
Thanks god I've managed to change the hotel after 1 night in Regina Style. The rooms are dirty, the food is horrible and this hotel does not deserve not even a 2 stars clasification. If you want a nice memory of your holiday in Egypt, book another hotel.

The staff was very slow and ignored everyone at check in. The lobby was dirty. My room was in a great location, first from the beach, but the room itself was horrible. The shets were stained and the everything was old. One night, water poured from the roof and it took 1 hour for someone to come and "fix" it. The next day the same thing happened. They were very rude about it and told me to put towles down. I left in the middle of my stay and went to The Desert Rose Resort.
The food was horrible, too. I ended up eating outside of the "resort" every day even though the area was dirty and crowded.
This hotel is NOT 4 star! Maybe 1 or 2

they work slowly, and their attitude was below standard, especially the front clerks'!!!!!!
they don't listen to what you say.

the room was kind of old, the bathroom is smelly and the minibar was not cleaned or restored before your checking in.


i do not reccomend going there.
choose another hotel!!

Beautiful lobby, splendid garden but people are supposed to stay in the rooms which are much lower than the 4 stars standard!!! Old and worn out furniture, rusted taps (the only new thing seemed to be the marble around the sink in the bathroom), broken upholstery, refrigerator not working because of a big iceberg inside (perhaps it was never cleaned up), dirty carpet, doors of the closet stuck in a fix position (neither opening nor closing) and so on (pictures speak by themselves). The buffet - also below expectations for a 4 stars - eatable, but too few choices of food and a heavy kitchen smell in the whole restaurant which could probably be avoided with a good ventilation system.
The staff is generally nice except for the people at the reception desk who are totally careless about the tourists and their needs... they have never given us the departure schedule from our travel guide, although it had been sent the previous evening and they HAD it!!!
Don't go to this hotel unless you are prepared to stay in the lobby or outside, in the garden or by the swimming pool. Otherwise, expect to pay 4 stars and get 1 star!

this hotel is never 4 star they allow dogs to share the rooms with their owners . The food was very basic and repetative . At the most this is 2/3 star lots of refurbishment being carried out but this will not improve the rating.The staff in general ok but the staff on reception not interested unless you jump up and down.I have just returned Aug 6 2005 I will return to hurghada but not to this hotel.The Regina Style Hotel Hurghada.

amazing trip when u r in Hurghada dont hesitate to visit Giftun island..the beach is sooo amazing, U´ll feel like in paradise!

Building Site Generally Hurgarda is full of incomplete pavements, roads and hotels. It is totally unsuitable for the disabled and young families with wheel chairs and push chairs. Outside the hotel people are generally nice and you can find good restaurants at reasonable prices but to get to these places you take you life in your hands to cross the road and the pavements are at different levels and have pot holes and cracked paving everywhere.

street traders Unfortunately you must ignore all traders unless you wish to buy. They are very friendly, especially if they discover you are engish. Also they double the price because they think we are rich. whatever they say the price is go in with half that. apparently chemist are fixed prices but that is not the case as we discovered. Be careful of quick handed note switching, which we encountered (watch at all times). Take minimal money out with you and now exactly what you have taken. You will always be able to go back the next day if there is something you want.
