We stayed at the Rhianna for a week , the room was spacious and clean plenty of hot water and drinking water , (we were all inclusive) but alas the dining rooms and utensils leave a lot to be desired, the food was not very nice , the only redeeming feature was to eat at the beach bar , the burgers were good there, and the other selection was edible, because of the all inclusive we were able to eat at the Three Corners Ocean View, same star rating but far superior in food quality and dining room, this apart since our intention was to veg after the Nile cruise it was ok, can't see where the stars came from , in my view it would scrape a two star rating , the food and dining room let it down badly.

A gem in El Gouna

The RIHANA RESORT & INN is one of a handful pleasant hotels – mostly upmarket - in the striking resort of El Gouna, a few miles west of Hurghada on Egypt’s Red Sea southern coast. El Gouna itself is a totally new “town” which was whipped up from desert sand only 20 years ago to offer the ultimate in comfort, elegance and safety. The idea was to build an elegant holiday resort without highrises, but with Egyptian and Nubian inspired architecture – low, colorful and inviting – around an intricate Venice-like system of seawater canals and lagoons. One must say the the goal has been reached with success…

The RIHANA RESORT & INN, belonging to the fine Egyptian “Three Corners” hotel chain, is the very essence of this concept. Built in three “circles”, 2 or max 3 floors high, each with a large pool area in the middle, it consists of the RESORT (****), the more elegant part of the establishment, while the other two “circles” make out the INN (***) section, offering more plain accommodations. All public areas and restaurants are in common, as well as meals, so that the only difference more or less lies in the accommodations. The whole setting is like a large garden – palms, lush bushery and flowers everywhere – where restaurant, bars and other facilities are scattered around in plentitude.

There is an array of rooms – doubles, twins and family and what have you – oriented towards the pool areas, gardens or the environments. The RESORT rooms (my nr. 8202) are very spacious with large balconies or terraces (by all means, go for the balconies!) and have adjustable A/C, a safe, a fully equipped kitchenette facility, TV, a comfortable sitting area and a minibar (without the freezer, so no ice cubes!). There is adequate wardrobe space with a lot of hangers. The bathrooms are not big, but adequate with a shower section, and lush towels adding to the luxurious feeling. There is, however, no selection of soaps etc, which one would expect from a hotel, which promotes itself as “deluxe ****”, but both the wash-stand and the shower nook are furnished with wall-mounted soap push-bags/dispensers. So forget the “de luxe” – but fours stars is just OK, everything taken into consideration. The all-male “room-maid” staff is efficient and cheerful, and they deliver
free drinking-water bottles each morning.

The 3-star INN section has much smaller rooms, some a little murky with a small balcony or terrace, others with a “French window”. Room facilities as such are much similar to those of the RESORT, so the main difference is the room size. The INN has, by the way, its own reception, and is so run very much as an hotel of its own, but with the outer facilities of the RESORT in common. There are two pools in the INN section, one of which has a kids’ water slide.

Here I would like to mention the excellent conditions for the handicapped. Guests confined to wheelchairs have no problems – ground floor terrace rooms (at least at the RESORT) provide fine access in and out, and even paths, ramps and passages everywhere make it easy to get around to pools and restaurants.

Kids are also taken well care of. They have the “Trixie Kids Club” with morning and afternoon entertainment and stage games prior to the evening shows at the Plaza Theatre. Plus the pool area with water slide at the “Sunset” section of the INN. No need to get bored here…

Common facilities for both the RESORT and the INN sections include two restaurants, the larger “Sunny Restaurant” and the much smaller and more intimate “Plaza Restaurant”, both serving the same standard buffet meals. The large “Sunny Restaurant” is very noisy and chaotic, and reminds you of the Cairo main railways station at rush time, while the smaller “Plaza” offers a certain style and intimacy. The food is, as said, the same. Both restaurants offer both in- and outdoor seating for breakfast and dinner.

One has the choise of bed & breakfast, half pension (breakfast & dinner), or All Inclusive – the latter dominating the entire place and putting the (very few) other guests under the scrutiny of
waiters, who fear that you should accidentally happen to get a free beer poolside…

Regarding the meals as such there is absolutely nothing to complaint about – the food is in fact of a very high standard – excellent, in fact, but of course not gourmet - the choice is very good and varied, and at dinner there is an alcoholic longdrink waiting for you at the restaurant entrance. Never seen that one before…

On Wednesdays the outdoor Bar-B-Que is the big thing. Cooks and chefs galore present the one delicacy after the other along the lane leading up to the tables set out in the free. Wonderful!

There are two speciality restaurants at the RIHANA – the Belgian “Chez Pasqual” and the Italian “Dolce Vita” – for those who want something extra.. Meals here are not included. All Inclusice guests may take advantage of El Gounas “Dine Around” system,. This means a credit voucher of LE 40 for an “uneaten” dinner at the hotel’s regular restaurants towards the bill of a dinner at “Chez Pasqual” or “Dolce Vita” – or at some of the other El Gouna hotels participating in the system.

Once you have made the El Gouna circuit you have seen most of it, or all, so expect much time to be spent at or around the hotel one way or another. Excursions are limited – there is Red Sea diving for the adventurous, or long and exhausting trips to either Luxor or Cairo. Apart from the pools the RIHANA offers its own private beach at the nearby lagoon, complete with free sunbeds, beach bar and diving center. Or one may use the hotel’s hourly free bus service to the “real” beaches on the Red Sea, only minutes away. Towels and snacks buffets and free sunbeds are provided near the beach bar by the hotel.

The pools are immaculate in every respect, and so is the pool service. The RIHANA has
a special towel service – you get a card which you trade in for a beach/pool towel for the day.
When you leave the pool/beach, you hand in your towel, get your card back and repeat the whole
thing again next day. The towels are, mind you, however lush and made of the finest Egyptian
cotton, not very large, so bring your own large towel any way.

Evenings – at 9 p.m. every night there is a show at the Plaza Theatre, set up by the hotel’s
animation team. They do a good job, the facilities taken into consideration. Ambitions are high –
there is a “Moulin Rouge” night, a “Lord of the Dance” night and so on. Before or after people seep
into the nearby watering hole - the “Peanuts Bar” - for a drink or a nightcap. Or one may visit the
hotel’s bazaar arcade offering everything under the sun. Remember to bargain. And hard.

To keep track of everything there is the daily distributed flyer, “Good Morning”, with all the details
to put things into perspective..

Now – no paradise without a snake. Our one is the mosquitos. There are lot of them, so be warned.
Spectacular fumigations take place almost every afternoon in the vain hope that it will help.
Balcony/terrace doors have screens to (try to) keep the vampires outside.

Otherwise – 5 minutes down the road from the RIHANA is El Gounas “downtown” area, complete
with bank, souvenirs, supermarkeds and restaurants, but not much else. And a mile or so away is the
large Marina with its posh shops, expensive restaurants and yachts. Yawn…

To sum it all up – if pursue Egyptian history, forget El Gouna. If you go for security, nice and
safe surroundings and neighbourhoods, cleanliness and lots of greenery, dolphins in the Red Sea –
then it definitely is El Gouna. And of course the lovely RIHANA RESORT & INN… Highly
recommended.

We stayed with 3 people in the Rihanna Resort ferom the 27th of July till the 10th of August. Swimming pool very crowded, but oh so nice and quiet at the laguna. Lot of people, but grounds are so well arranged that it doesn't bother you, very helpfull staff that does the ultimate if you slip them a few Egyptian pounds, large and clean room, just a little bit to septic, looks like a hospital bedroom, but overall, great vactaion for great value!!! (buffets are really good and a lot of food present!!! We'll certainly go back!!

The Three Corners Rihana Inn and Rihana Resort has just about all you need for a perfect holiday unlike many Hotels I have stayed at in the past this Hotel has some of the best trained and mannered staff I have come acorss the Hotel is built in a Nubian style and is well decorated the rooms a well funished and there ia a choice of three Swimming Pools to are fairly noisy the third that is next to the Sunset bar is quiet there is also a lagoon to bathe at this is popular with familys and is safe for children in whole this resort is well appointed and for those visiting Egypt for the first time I would reconmend as good hotel to stay at.

do the sunny holiday dance around the pool

from tinkerbell28
my partner and i have just returned from the most wonderful trip to egypt
staff couldnt be more helpful and food id out of this world ALWAYS SOMETHING DIFFERENT DAILY AND EVEN FOR MY OTHER HALF WHO IS THE FUSSIEST EATER EVER. the sun shone every day for us AND WE EVEN DID AN INTRO- DIVE WITH A COMPANY NAMED AQUARIUS THROUGH OUR TOUR OPERATOR FIRST CHOICE. i would 100% reccomend the rihanna it was a holiday of a life time. just be prepared to haggle even within the resort., you must also visit downtown and get a bargain in the shoe shop!! enjoy !!!

Very Good Value

from amanda.ewis
I believe I got a great deal - £350 pp All Inlusive for 1 week. Food at the Rihana Inn was amazing value for money - different choice every night and some food was carved (i.e. Roast Beef, Chicken) - not just your typical buffet. It was a bit busy, but then we discovered the smaller restuarant where the service was more personable. As nice as the hotel and pools were, I did think the service lacked a little - many of the waiters were lazy and had to be chased as they chatted more than they worked but generally an excellent value holiday. Rooms are 3 star standard not 4, but they are clean if a little old fashioned.

El Gouna Downtown was lovely - had no idea how quiet the Marina wasn - although very beautiful.

Temperature just perfect, comfortable in a sleeveless top and shorts and not too hot in the day (although still 36-38 on average).

Excellent experience and swimming with Dolphins topped the whole thing off but I will be going back to Sharm next time as I miss the option of quiet or lively as El Gouna is very quiet in general.

relaxing

from henry99
my husband and i have just returned from a two week stay, the weather was brill. and the days were relaxing. down town is about five min away and there are nice resturants if you fancy a change of scenery, but the hotel has all you need. some people got bit loads by mozzies but we wer e lucky we only had a few bites keep your balcony door shut they are very small and sometimes you can not see them. the beds were changed every day and the staff were very helpful, i looked at a few reviews before i went and it was all what i expected and more. peanuts bar finish all inclusive at 12 but you can pay for drinks and go to the small disco at the back till you drop. can not wait to go a gaint

Perfect from day one!

from bl_sw
Have just returned from a fabulous two week stay at the Rihana Inn!

To keep it brief, there wasn't a negative aspect to our stay. The hotel staff were friendly and always willing to help, the rooms were immaculately clean and spacious and the hotel grounds were very pretty and well tended to. The food was varied (even for a vegetarian), with different themes every night. None of our party had any tummy trouble throughout the stay. Could have quite happily stayed for a third week.

El Gouna itself, is an upmarket resort and very laid back and quiet, but vibrant and buzzy on a Friday night during the Marina festival.

The trip to Luxor is a long & tiring day, but well worth it. Take yourself away from the beach for a day, you won't be disappointed.

liked it apart from the mozzies

from bripat
Just returned from this hotel and although we enjoyed it the edge was taken off by continually being bitten with mosquitoes. I don't know if it was due to the time of year or not but El Gouna is an ideal place for them----lagoons everywhere which we were told are the ideal breeding grounds. Anyone going should take adequate protection ,we were told the best thing was pure lemon juice on the arms ,legs, ankles etc.---believe me they love ankles! The hotel was o k but we have stayed in better 4 star accomodation, anyone with a weak bladder will have to time it well with the toilets in the PEANUTS bar, its quite an experience! There is only 1 lavatory type toilet for either sex, quite often I didn't make it!! but we had many a laugh. All in all, a good holiday spoiled by MOZZIES..

relaxing, refreshed!

from aimish
All we wanted was sun sea and sand and relaxation! and was not disapointed!
from the moment we arrived to the time that we left, you couldn't fault it!
The staff are so friendly and work so hard! they just couldn't do enough to help!
WE stayed in the resort although there are very little differences between the resort and inn. They are interconnected and you share everything together! 3 big pools, a beautiful lagoon, (you have to get the free shuttle bus to the beach! but its only 5mins away!
El gouna is quite! if your looking for a lively place then go to hurgada or sharm!
The shops and resturants are not even 100meters from the hotel. it's well worth a look around, you'll pick up some lovely pieces! do haggel and agree a price first though!
The food here was second to none! thats the hotel and the resturants!
i recomend going to the marina, just if you go to look at the amazing yatchs! and the toktok's are just a great way of getting around if you are tired of walking. at only 5LE pp (£0.50p) bargin!
if you do any excersions please go snorkelling at giftun island! its a tiny piece of paradise!
can't wait to go back!

fabulous break

from Tilli
I have just returned from The Three Corners Rhianna Inn in El Gouna and could not fault this hotel. It was fantsastic value for money. I booked through Direct holidays for the week 6th to 13th october for less than £590 for 2 all inclusive last minute.

It is on the same site as The Three Corners Rhianna Resort and in fact the facilities are totaly shared, but the Inn is cheaper, the only difference in the holiday is the room is slightly smaller. I could not fault the food on offer and there is something available for all tastes at all meal times.

The rooms where spotless as is the hotel, gounds and El Gouna itself.
The beach here was stunning, a safe lagoon where you can swim, windsurf or snorkle, pedlos and bike pedlos also available and not expensive. there is also a dive school on site.

You can buy a pass for one week for £1.50 that will take you all over El Gouna on either bus or boat, unlimited use. Tok Tok's are also available (motorised Rikshaw) anywhere for 50pence per person. This was one of the most relaxing holidays I have ever experienced and what a bargain. Thoroughly recommended.

Excellent Hols!!!!!!

from queenofegypt
myself and my boyfriend stayed at the rihana hotel in september we have both been to el gouna before and decided to have a change of hotel plus the price was unbeatable all inclusive through direct holidays for £244.00!!! we had a great time and met some great people the staff were helpful we had great fun at the sunset bar with malik the fantastic barman who was not tight with his measurements and made some great malik specials!!! must try!!!! i am quiet a fussy eater so i did not rate the food that was my only fault you could not ask for a safer, friendlier, clean resort to stay differently the best place in egypy everyone is friendly in town whether it be down town or at the marina you will feel at home!! also try three corners ocean view 100%!!!
