Excellent Hotel, Staff Brilliant

Stayed at the Arena Hill for our 2nd stay in Egypt, must say this is an excellent. Hotel rooms are basic, but you only use them to sleep in get showered & changed so what else do you need. The rooms & the hotel were very very clean, staff are very polite & helpful if somewhat over keen sometimes nothing was too much trouble for them. The hotel location is excellent. The last time we stayed in El Gouna we stayed at the marina which is also excellent this location is just as good you are 5-10 minutes from downtown.The hotel is situated right on the lagoon which is great for swimming in, didn't go in the pool as the lagoon was so good. If you stay at the Arena you must go to the beach (free bus or boat) as you can walk out in the sea for miles & still only be ankle deep & the water is very warm. One of the great things about the Arena Hill is if you stay all-inclusive as we did they do a different themed night for the food eg italian,german,egyptian,oriental etc. & the food is terrific. As an added bonus, if you do not want to eat in the hotel every night you can 'dine around' at numerous other hotels & restaurants in El Gouna including some at the marina.The only reason we marked this down from a 10 to a 9 (we would give it a 9.5 but you don't get the option) is that some nights when you are in the bar area having a drink or playing pool/table tennis there was no music on which we felt was needed. It was on during the day, but not in the evenings although there was some entertainment on the ocassional night like a belly dancer which was great. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone.We will most certainly be going back to this hotel in the future.There is lots more that we can say but it's better for you to book & find out for yourselves. You will not be disappointed.

Stayed at the Arena Inn in July 08, had the most fantastic holiday ever. The staff were so friendly it was unbelievble. The location was perfect. Never been to cleaner hotel in my life. English hotels could take a leaf out of the arenas book and buck their ideas up. Food cleanliness, rooms and bathrooms are first class as are the staff. Can't wait to go back. Love you Arena inn.

Best holiday ever. Hotel is wonderful, nice cozy rooms, very clean, extremely friendly stuff, great food, no complaints at all. It's 4 stars but we found nothing lacking, unless you're a snob and demand a brand name hotel. El Gouna is relatively small, and transportation is very well organized so you can get anywhere easily for small change.
Hotel is located on the lagoon but a better beach is further away and hotel has organized transportation every 20 minutes or so. Sunbeds and lunch is organized at the other beach too. All inclusive is the way to go. Can't wait to go back this september.

We booked this hotel because we read that it was near the centre, well what a load of rubbish, the centre advertised is completely dead and consists of about 3 bars and a dimly lit grotty fountain. The real centre is the Marina which you have to get a shuttle bus or a taxi too every night !! The rooms are ok but the bathroom is tiny and the water packed in 2 nights running !!The staff are very friendly, but as always want money off you all the time !! The food is very basic, so much so ( we went b + b and wouldn't advise anyone to go all inclusive !)we had to go out for lunch every day. Also as is is near to the lagoon there are lots of flies every day. We loved EL GOUNA but not the Arena Inn and if you are thinking of going then stay at one of the hotels at the Marina.

This was excellent value for money, great location, only minutes from downtown. Only complaint was most of the guests are All Inclusvie, very few B & B, and this didnt work well at the bar at all. They were reluctant to serve us as they had a slip to fill out [we wanted to pay as we went!), then seemed to always be short of change. If a till was installed here that would solve problem. Air con not brilliant, everything else made up for that though. Pool excellent, lots of free beds! Would definately consider returning.

We found paradise. This hotel has it all! Excellent standards in all it does. Personal service from all the staff. Your own beach with lagoon and no fight for sunbeds. Perfect. Cant wait to go back.

Top Local Tips for El Gouna

Mahmya Amazing trip. If in El Gouna then there is a 40mins bus trip, worth th wait. You arrive and are taking by a big modern boat to the island of mahmya. Once there you are given a space under an umbrella. There is coaral reefs just off shore, where you can stand. Lots of fish around. You then have the option to sun bath or go back on the boat and out further to a bigger reef. Lots more fish here. You stay here for just over an hour, plenty of time to explore. Once back on the island the food is served in the reasturants, very nice, chcken, fish, pasta, salad. We then sun bathed and went swimming up to you. Once back on the boat home we thought our trip had finished. But the boat takes you to a spot which is poular with dolphins, amazing we saw a pod of dolphins swimming around are boat. Excellent trip it cost around £35 each worth every penny.

good places to eat Eat at the Hedra restaurant in down town. Its a balcony restaurant with good views over the square on local entertainment nights. Jobo's is also a good place to eat. The staff are great fun and the food is really tasty.
