A touch of paradise on the Nile

from A TripAdvisor Member
We toured with Abercrombie and Kent on their Spendours of the Nile program and orginally had been booked at the other Four Seasons in town. That one is great but this one is only two years old and in great condition. The rooms were fabulous. The restaurants were as good as anywhere we've ever been and the attentiveness was, well Four Seasons. A significant portion of our group had some intestinal problems on the Nile and the restaurant managers did all they could to provide us with easily digestible food and went the extra mile to make absolutely sure nothing they had served had caused a problem. They provided an in-house doctor who was available both in person and by phone. Absolutely top notch!! By the way, if you haven't travelled to Cairo for a while you are in for a treat. City has been cleaned nicely and the "smell is gone". The antiquities are clean and very little garbage anywhere, other than one canal. The Egyptians were wonderful hosts and we felt very safe at all times.

One of the best hotels, Excellent pool and restaurants

from ntravinsky
This hotel was definitely the highlight of my husband and I's trip to Egypt (as far as accomodations are concerned). We also stayed at the FS in Sharm. The staff were so welcoming when we checked in and when we got to our room we were really impressed. The bathroom was gorgeous and spacious enough for multitasking when both of us were inside. Toiletries are by L'Occitane.

There was a special chocolate dessert in our room wishing us a Happy Marriage and my husband and I began eating it immediately. YUM! Every day fresh fruit was brought to the table and that was excellent as well.

We ate at two of the restaurants while we were there. The first night we tried the buffet (excellent!). Food quality was superb and the price was reasonable. We at at the Chinese restaurant for another meal and that was also really good. I wanted to eat at the restaurants in the hotel every night because I knew we wouldn't go wrong, but instead we ventured to some other restaurants around the city and had a nice time.

We did manage to catch a couple of hours by the pool one day (we were in Cairo so we were spending most of our time checking out the sites in the city). The poolside wasn't very crowded and nobody was swimming. Most people were laying out on the chairs around the pool and enjoying the temperature and relaxing. We had a nice fruit cocktail and relaxed,

Great hotel and I highly recommend it

One of the best hotels I have stayed in

I have the privilege to work in the luxury sector of the travel industry and stay in up-market hotels wordlwide. This is one of the very best, with excellent rooms, staff, facilities and food. I cannot fault it. Great!!!

Another excellent Four Seasons!

We stayed here for just one night at the end of a two-week independently booked trip through Egypt and found it to be wonderful. We'd stayed for a couple nights at the Four Seasons First Residence at the beginning of the trip, and they were both so similarly pleasing, although slightly different, that I couldn't say which is better. They are very close together, just across the Nile from one another so location really shouldn't be an issue if you are choosing between the two. They both have excellent, notably wonderful service, spacious extremely well-appointed rooms and tasty, varied dining selections. I'd have to say the Nile Plaza hotel feels a little hipper, more metropolitan while the First Residence is more classic, with a smaller hotel feel and beautiful antiques throughout. I'd recommend both equally and whole-heartedly.

Great location

from Mohi412
I have been to the Four Seasons Nile Plaza in Cairo in July 05 as an alternative to its' sister hotel The Four Seasons First Residence. Although disappointed by the largeness and bustle of the lobby (it's a popular meeting location for business men) the overal approach of this luxury hotel chain is evident throughout. Although they were supposed to collect us from the airport but forgot, they tried their utmost to make up for it by upgrading us to a better room overlooking the Nile and showing concern throughout the stay. The rooms are not as attractive as those of the First Residence being rather too plain, dull in colour scheme, and overal feel a bit too commercial compared to other Four Seasons Hotels.
The best thing about this hotel is its' Cantonese restaurant which again lacks the ambience and the right interior design but the food is fantastic!!! Being tavel writers we roam the world and being a food critic too, I assure you it equals Singapore's Cantonese restaurants. It is indeed a major plus for the hotel.

Above Average (even for a 5*)

Arrived 26 Dec for a weeks stay till 2 Jan but due my wife becoming ill on the BA155 that night needed to see a doctor at 4am and then leave 28/12. Thanks to the concierge we saw a doctor at 4am who gave great medical support (at no fee) and the concierge then moved us from a city view to nile view with great balcony/views at no cost, cancelled our FS Doha onward reservations, and helped to rebook our BA returns/limo etc etc. This hotel truly exceeded our expectations even though my wife saw the lobby only on the way-in and way-out, will hopefully stay again at some point. All TA reviews are true to point, this surely is the best hotel in Egypt and one of FS best worldwide. It helped us when it mattered and for that I've sent a letter of thanks to the FS President. Thanks FS/team, for help well above that expected.

The Nile Plaza exceeds expectations

from London_Surfer
Thanks to the many glowing reviews, on trip advisor, we chose this hotel, on a recent trip. The Nile Plaza is perfectly placed, offering luxuriously comfortable accommodation. Our room had a large balcony, with panoramic views of the Nile and Pyramids. Best of all though, were the staff. Reception and reservations - world class - ensuring our requests were thoughtfully considered. The pool food and beverage staff were fantastic too. One of the reception lounge staff went to great efforts to copy some information, for one of our party. This was greatly appreciated. It is the little touches and relentless attention to detail that makes this hotel outstanding. Many thanks to all of the staff. We shall use only the Nile Plaza, in Cairo, in future.

Welcome Retreat!

from Carolwt
After 12 days of hectic travel, the Four Seasons was a welcome splurge. We were greeted at reception with an upgrade from our reserved standard room to a deluxe nile view on 26th floor. We do not know why we were upgraded, but it made our stay a terrific value! Our room was lovely with a bathroom that was pure luxury. And the view--which included the pyramids at Giza-- was spectacular. Best of all, when we closed the door of our balcony, there was silence --and that in itself is luxury in Cairo!

Without doubt, if you desire a refuge from the cacophony of the city, this is it.

wonderful hotel

from SLBK
Just back from a 3 night stay at the Four Season's Cairo and totally agree with all the other reviews written.

We were thoroughly spoilt on our first stop over in Egypt, the room was perfect had a nice balcony over looking the pool on the 17th floor (very quite) tried all the restaurants and our favourite was the Chinese very authentic and tasty food.

It was such a relief after a very hard and dusty day seeing the slights of Cairo to come back to a truly relaxing and tranquil hotel.

Tried out the Spar which was amazing and the best I have ever been in - huge with many areas just to sit and relax and the massage was very good - well worth a visit if you stay here.

If we ever go back to Egypt we would only stay in the Four Season's hotel its just a shame they don't open one up in Luxor, as the hotels there just don't live up to Four Seasons standards.

What a fantastic hotel

from A TripAdvisor Member
We stayed in the Cairo Four Seasons Nile Plaza as the first leg of our honey moon. i must admit it spoilt us for the rest of the journey!! the beds were so comfortable, and the service was great, nothing was too much for the staff there, even helping with selections of the Lebanese food that was being served in the evenings. whilst in Cairo we did all the tourist "things" often arriving back at the hotel dusty and tired through heat. allways to a happy "welcome home" the leisure facilities were fantastic, we took full advantage of them, and the staff at the pool side bar and resturant were great and made us feel right at home (the hotel can be a bit over whelming when you are used to little english B and B's!)
Cairo was a fantastic place, though the traffic was a bit scary, and the taxis nearly mow you down in a bid to get your business. if we ever get the chance to visit again, the Nile Plaza is a definate for our return. the nicest thing was after the long flight and transfer they had made up a table in the room with a happy honeymoon cake, very sweet and welcome.

Top Local Tips for Cairo

Tip on food in Cairo We ate twice at a chain restaurant called Felfela. Any taxi drive can take you to one - or if you have a guide, they can stop. It has delicious and incredibly cheap falafel sandwiches. A great way to get a snack or quick lunch while on the run between sites!

If only one night Stay near the airport - extra sleep and less traffic

Avoid diarrhea - get a Rx for Cipro! Spouse developed a case of diarrhea - wish we would have had a Rx for Cipro, which cleared it right up!
