The lobby of this hotel may be 5 star but that is where it ends. It is situated in the middle of a slum area and they are also building a new road system nearby so lots of hold ups in traffic. Even if there was somewhere to walk to it is not safe. There was maintenance work going on in the grounds even whilst were were 'relaxing' round the pool which is at least 5ft deep all round. Bedroom - mosquitos alive and dead everywhere with an empty can of repellant. Broken curtains, dirty rugs, old fittings, lamp with dodgy wiring. Food - bland and with no service/find your own cups etc. Better service for foreigners(!). No pool bar, no evening entertainment, extra charges for jacuzzi, sauna etc. Any attractions are all at least a 40 min drive away. AVOID!

1 hour for check in,for medical purpose I went to the reception desk asking if I could get some first aid kit and they told me to me to phone to a pharmarcy near by. In my voucher, I had included breakfast and lunch and a late check out. They made me buy lunch and the late chek out,the same mosquitos(more or less 18) that were smashed in the bath room the day I arrived .

My wife & I stayed two nights in this hotel. As soon as we got there we changed our room twice before accepting the fact that it was a junk and took the third room. It is no where near a 5 star hotel, it's service and offerings are 3rd class. The rooms were dirty, the taps and all metal objects were rusty, the bathroom drainage system was blocked, the floor was dirty and no one really had a clue of what service means, the hotel is situated in a area where there are no real shops and the only way to travel anywhere is to get a taxi from the hotel .e.g. To get to the train station they charge £70 (Egyptian) where as everyone else charge £20, itâs a rip off. I must say they have lovely gardens to walk thru but thatâs about it as their breakfast is the same as every where else you go which in all fairness is good but thatâs what you expect although you may have to get someoneâs attention to get you some cutlery to begin eating your breakfast. It took one and a half day to get some one to have a look at the drainage problem when promised 10 minutes. The hotel claimed that the hotel is 5 minutes away from the pyramids but quite cleverly they did not mention in what type of transport this will take 5 minutes.

Eaten alive by mosquitos, no nets, not enough repellant. Cold tap in basin didn't function. Took 2 hrs+ to organise extra bed in room so after midnight before we could sleep. Forgot wake up call so had to pay extra for mad dash to airport for flight which we only just made in time. Not a good breakfast either with tough pastries. Altogether just awful.

Excellent hotel, very hospitable, eager to help and always there when you ring for them. Brilliant pool (biggest I have seen lately), near Pyramids of Giza and not far from city. Do your research of the city of Cairo before you decide to put up in this hotel. A resort that lives up to it's name. Warning - too much bargainig to be done when buying stuff. Get a feel of the prices from the shops in the resort. Would recommend it but take lot of anti-mosquitoes!!

I have traveled all over the world and this hotel was by far the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. My first impression was good with beautiful gardens and a large pool. After I saw the room, I was very disappointed. It was very dirty, with dust all over the place. The bedsheets were dirty and the bathroom was also filthy. The worst part were the mosquitos in the room. You know it is a bad sign when every room is equipped with a large can of bug spray. The first night we stayed there, my wife had a severe allergic reaction/ rash from the mosquito bites. We had to call a doctor who gave her massive doses of antihistimines. She almost missed the best part of the trip- Giza Pyramids. We were so relieved when our travel group finally checked out of this hotel. Customer service was also very poor. The rest of the trip was outstanding! We were traveling with a tour group and everyone had similar experiences. Stay anywhere other than this hotel- BEWARE!

Really surprised to read the earlier reviews of this resort hotel - maybe things have changed a lot. Needed space, quiet and a great pool after hectic and noisy family time in Alexandria and found it at the Cataract Resort - away from the noise of central Cairo, handy to the pyramids, farmland on one side - not a mosquito in sight - by far the best value hotel I have stayed at in Egypt over the past 30 years - was on my own this time so check room size if you have a family.

Absolute rubbish hotel. Staff not that good. Food horrible. Rooms are far too small and dark. Sooooo expensive for anything at hotel and staff very very unaccomodating. Special deal if you are Egyptian if not they are there to rip you off. I would not ask anyone to stay there. And it is in the middle of no-where. Infested my mozzies and typifies all that is bad in Cairo. You can do much much better.

Fantastic staff are let down by poor food and a lousy, mosquito infested location. Honestly...you can do better, much better.
