Fantastic staff are let down by poor food and a lousy, mosquito infested location. Honestly...you can do better, much better.
Mosquito invasion in the middle of nowhere

The first night they put us in a room for 2 adults and 1 child but the room was fit for only 1 child! there was no extra bed for the child and when i asked for an extra bed they couldn't fit it in, the size of the room was horrendous. I then asked for a bigger room that would fit all of my family in and they said i had to pay $50 extra for every night we stayed. the whole hotel was invaded by the swarms of mosquitos that keep all guests who enter a skin rash which looks like they have caught a contagious disease, we were eaten alive by these beasts! Tragic, I know. The hotel was too far from town, we spent half a day travelling there, especially with the traffic in Cairo. By the way I am an Egyptian who lives in England and my advice to anyone is don't stay in this hotel, even if it is free. Cairo is a beautiful place and welcomes all who stay to visit but try to avoid this hotel. This holiday cost us £2500 for eight days with lastminute.com

Top Local Tips for Cairo
Watch out for the scammers! My partner and I hired a driver and went about ourselves. We really got stung by the people at attractions. I would highly recommend that you go in a group so that your guide will be responsible for dealing with this people who demand money for no reason, just for you being there!
Fantastic opportunity to see ancient history Do pay extra money to hire a guide at the Cairo Museum, there are offical guides within the grounds. They do bring the exhibits to life. Watch out for offers to take a picture of camels at the Pyramids, they do bring a lot of pressure for you to pay a lot for them - and an extra "tip" for the camel!. The tourist police are just as guilty!
