I've been there with my college, really it's a hidden treasure, we all like it sooo much. The stuff were sooo kind and they welcomed us in a great way. The rooms were cozy, the view was fantastic and adorable specially that coral islands at sunset. Really I wish to spend my honeymoon there.

Top Local Tips for Aswan

Travel Agency recommendation- to arrange any and all aspects of your sightseeing Don't try to sightsee around Aswan yourself-- the hassle and danger (in terms of 30 year old cars reeking of gasoline with no seatbelts) is not worth it when you can arrange a private, modern car and driver and tourguide. We were extremely satisfied with Thomas Cook, located on the main strip in Aswan. They spoke great English, were able to arrange all of our sightseeing for Aswan and Abu Simbel at the last minute, as well as our forward sightseeing in Luxor. (We also contacted Thomas Cook in Cairo when we got there and they were able to pull us together a great tour package for 8am the next morning at 9:30pm at night). Highly recommend Thomas Cook as reputable, responsible, reasonable (you can negotiate the price with them to some degree) and providing excellent services.

Philae Temple Philae Temple is just lovely, so make sure that you include this in your trip. We hired a driver thru the Isis Hotel for 80 Egyptian Pounds (for three people total) and we were able to go with him to the High Dam, Philae Temple, and the Unfinished Obelisk. We all thought the dam was fairly interesting, loved the Philae Temple, and felt that the Unfinished Obelisk was a waste of money. Spend most of your time at Philae and it'll be time well spent. It is beautiful and unlike any other temple I've seen in Egypt. Keep in mind that the price for your ticket does not include the price of a boat to go to the island. We paid 30 pounds for the three of us, and we were told by others it was a fair price.

book tours with Thomas Cook Definitely see Abu Simbel. If you book the tour with Thomas Cook, you get a personal driver and tour guide using new cars going on the convoy. HOWEVER... if the speed limit of the car goes above 100 which it always does, the car will start beeeeeeeeeepppppping. there's no way to shut it off. so if you do get into one of these cars, get the driver to open the window a crack unless you prefer the annoying bbbbbbbbeeeeeeeeepppppppppp at 5 in the morning. go for a fellucca ride., it's a great great ride
