Butanta Snake Farm – one of the most popular venues in town for tourists; it’s found on the edge of Cidade Universitaria and is located in a lovely park quite suitable for picnics. They keep more than 1000 snakes from which they ‘milk’ them for anti-venom to treat both snake and spider bites.
Musea de Arte Moderna – located inside the Parque do Ibirapuera; it’s the oldest museum of modern art in Brazil, containing a huge collection of artworks from the 1930’s up to the 1970’s. Do also visit the planetarium also found here; it runs daily sessions.
Museu de Arte de Sao Paulo – found at Avenida Paulista 1578; it has the largest and best collection of western art in Latin America. It also has some French Impressionist paintings and a few Brazilian ones too; a cafeteria can be found on the 1st floor.
Memorial da America Latina – found on Rua Mario de Andrade 664; situated outside this museum is a 7 metre high concrete hand, and inside, you’ll find the Centre of Latin American studies, an auditorium which shows free concerts, and some handicraft goods.

Ponto Chic – found at Largo Paissandu 27; the famous Brazilian sandwich is served here which is a very good reason to eat here. The sandwich (bauru) is made with beef, pickle, tomato, and melted cheese served on a French loaf. A very popular restaurant with the locals too.
Casa Ricardo – located on Avenida Vieira de Carvalho 48; it’s well worth a visit and is very popular. It serves 20 different types of sandwiches which are all very tasty and all very reasonably priced.
Bar e Restaurante Leao – located at Avenida Sao Joao 81; they serve great Italian food here and a huge salad bar accompanies it, all at very reasonable prices.
Famiglia Mancini – found at Rua Avanhandava 81; they serve a huge selection of pasta wine. It’s a very popular place and it can become quite crowded until late, but the prices are really good

Bar Brahma – found on the corner of Rua Sao Joao and Avenida Ipiranga; it’s the city’s oldest pub and during the evenings they play quite oldish music. The best tables are upstairs, and the atmosphere is very friendly and relaxing.
Finnegans Pub – located at Rua Christiano Viana 358; they do speak a little English here, which is perhaps, a good reason to visit. The locals know it as a ‘gringo’ bar!
Cafe Piu-Piu – located at Rua 13 de Maio 134; it has music every night except Mondays. The atmosphere is quite lively whilst they play both jazz and rock. Look out for the American band when they play country music wearing 20-gallon hats

| A lot of visitors here find the many markets an attractive source of goods to take home. The market at Praca da Republica is open on Sundays and you’ll find lots of things you might like to take home from here. They offer paintings by the local artists which are very good, handmade laces, woodcarvings, Brazilian precious stones, and some leather goods
