Old City Hall - Richmond's City Hall, a fine example of Victorian - Gothic architecture, was completed in 1894 with three foot granite walls on the inside and the interior courtyard, a three-storey painted cast-iron marvel. A 400% overrun during construction almost led to the abandonment of the project, but it was saved from demolition by the Historic Richmond Foundation. It is now a private office building and only the first floor is open to visitors during normal business hours.
Farmer's market - The market is said to be the oldest such market in the country. Shockoe Creek once ran adjacent to this site which was used by the Indians to trade in produce. Colonial use of this area dates back to the 1740's when this area was designated for fairs. In 1779, the site was officially declared for markets and it has been in continous use since then. Market days are Thursday to Sunday.
The Egyptian Building - This building was completed in 1845 and has been in continous use since then.It was the first permanent home of the Medical Department of Hampden-Sidney (later the Medical College of Virginia) and housed medical lecture rooms, a dissecting room and is constructed from brick, cast-iron and stucco. The Building is considered the finest example of Egyptian Revival architecture in the United States. |

The Henry Clay Inn - 114 North Railroad. Named after the orator and statesman, Henry Clay was known as the "Great Compromiser" and ran for President in 1824,1828 and 1844. The present inn was built on the site of the previous two in 1992 after the previous burnt down.An old-fashioned restaurant and hotel with antiques thoroughout, it offers 19th Century charm with 21st Century convenience and food done the old-fashioned way.
Caliente - 2922 Park Ave. This is a favourite with locals, serving everything from Cajun, Caribbean, Thai and South-Carolina with lots of spices. Open for lunch and dinner, closed on Sundays.
Fuddruckers - 8317 W Broad Str. Grilled burgers made from ground beef, turkey, salmon and ostrich with the buns baked daily. A fast-food joint, where you can build your own burger and add extras like tomatoes, lettuce, jalapenos, a variety of sauces with cole-slaw, baked beans and fries on the side. |

Bahama Joe's - 6922 Staples Mill Rd. Although new on the scene, this premier nightclub and sports bar offers a 600sq ft dance floor, five bars, sports TV's and a fun, tropical atmosphere that will appeal to all adult age groups. Open Tues - Sat from 5pm - 2am.
Tiki Bob's - 110 N 18th Str. Good atmosphere, value for money drinks and food, crowded, trendy, good crowd mix and dancing make a good social scene where the emphasis is on a Polynesian paradise.Booths with individual TV's and Top 40 music complete the picture. Open Mon - Sat from 4pm -2am
The Canal Club - 1545 East Cary Str. Great spot to hear a band, grab a beer or play a game of pool.The two-storey building features an oak bar with an unusually high number of beers on tap as well as a concert stage. |

Children's Museum of Richmond - This interactive, hands-on museum has over 250 exhibits including the wonders of flight, illusions and astronomy in its 42 000 sq ft.It also houses a OMNIMAX film and multi-media planetarium.
Maymont - This 100 acre Victorian estate was bequeathed to Richmond in 1925.It includes a nature centre and gardens, a carriage collection, children's farm and native Virginia wildlife exhibits and a restored Victorian mansion.
Paramount's Kings Dominion - This 400 acre theme park has the most roller-coasters in one location on the east coast. The theme park draws on Paramount movies and TV series for its inspiration and Star Trek characters stalk the grounds.Some rides include Top Gun and Wayne's World, while stimulator rides, shows and water slides offer the traditional theme park thrills |
