Chantilly is located in Fairfax county and falls under the Washington-Baltimore Metropolitan Area. During the Civil war, the county was an important region. The battles of Chantilly or Ox Hill and Bull Run were fought in the area.

Sully Historic Site – Daily tours are available for the 1894 home of Richard bland Lee. Northern Virginia’s first congressman. Within the grounds you will find outbuildings and a reproduced slave’s quarter. The address is 3601 Sully Road.
Chantilly Battlefield – On 1 September 1862, a major Civil War Battle was fought in the area. The battlefield is now surrounded by a modern development but it still accessible. It can be found at West Ox Road and Monument Drive.
Fairfax Museum – Just down the road from Chantilly you will find this museum that represents the rich history of the area. Constructed in 1873, the building was originally a schoolhouse. The address is 10209 Main Street, Fairfax. |
