| PIGEON FORGE LOCAL HISTORY |

Pioneer Isaac Love established an iron forge in what is today Pigeon Forge in 1820. The town grew slowly and only achieved town status in 1961.
The town saw rapid growth following its discovery by tourists in the early eighties and is now one of the states most popular destinations due to its proximity to the Smoky Mountain National Park. |

Dollywood - 1020 Dollywood Lane. This entertainment park offers rides, games, shows, crafts and good old-fashioned southern cooking. The park has links with famous country singer Dolly Parton, and is affiliated with nearby Dollywood’s Splash Country.
The Old Mill – Over a million visitors make a stop at this Smoky Mountain landmark each year. What makes it fairly unique is that it is still functioning as intended when it was built in 1830 – grinding thousands of pounds of grain every day powered by its water wheel. Located on Old Mill Square you will find interesting historical buildings nearby, including shops selling old style candy and pottery.
Smoky Mountain Car Museum – Open between May and October, this fascinating museum displays some of the finest automobiles ever built. Highlights include Hank Williams Jr.’s Silver Dollar Car; James Bond’s car used in “Goldfinger” and “Thnderball”; Stringbean’s Cadillac; Elvis’s Mercedes and much more. |

The Alamo Steakhouse – As you may have gathered from the name, the speciality here is without a doubt steak – Black Angus beef cooked over an oak fire – which is reportedly excellent. The menu does however cater for other tastes and includes a variety of seafood, chicken and soup dishes; there is also a children’s menu. The restaurant is open daily for lunch and dinner and is located at 3050 Parkway.
Duff’s Smorgasbord – Located at 3985 Parkway, this is the ideal place to come if you are hungry and on a tight budget. The food is traditional southern fare and takes the form of a buffet that includes an assortment of meats, fresh vegetables, homemade soups, home baked breads and deserts. Breakfasts include muffins and pastries. Open daily for breakfast at around $7 and dinner for $10. |

| Rocky River Grill – This is the only microbrewery in Pigeon Forge and is a great option if you are looking for a place to have a few drinks. The address is 204 Sharron Drive, the pub is open daily till late. |

| Old Mill Square is a great place to pick up some great home made goods including baked goods, old fashioned candy, pottery and preserves. |

Dollywood’s Splash Country – This water park is located near Dollywood and includes a number of water rides suitable for all ages..
Kid’s Country – This is a fantasyland play area for children aged 3-12. |
