North Carolina Museum of Art - 2110 Blue Ridge Road, admission to the state’s most dynamic cultural arts establishment is free from Wednesdays to Sundays, with a charge for special events. The collections range from the ancient, Egyptian funerary art, Greek and Roman artefacts, to modern major works by American artists. The European masters include Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Paul Delvaux, Henry Moore, Anselm Kiefer and Gerhard Richter, and there is on display to African, Ancient American and Oceanic Art.
Birthplace of President Andrew Johnson – Corner of Mimosa St. and Wake Forest Rd, is where the seventeenth president of the USA was born. Visitors can see the antebellum plantation house in Mordecai Historic Park, as well as the museum and other fascinating and interesting buildings of the era.
The State Capitol - Capitol Sq, this Greek revival building that houses the offices of the governor and lieutenant governor, was built in the mid 19th century, and is a National Historic Landmark. A tour of the capitol will take up to at least 30 to 40 minutes, and it is necessary to make a reservation for a guided tour.
Joel Lane Museum House - Corner of St. Mary's and W. Hargett Streets, this is Raleigh’s oldest residence and was built in the 1760’s. Guides in costumes will tell visitors stories about the building and fill you in on the background of the lives and doings of the people who once lived here.

Bear Rock Cafe – Located at 404-171 E. Six Forks Rd this place has made the simple sandwich into a work of art, and has a dizzying selection to choose from. Their motto ‘Stuff people not bears’ really hits home when tucking into one of their offerings.
42nd St. Oyster Bar – Located at 508 W. Jones Street, this restaurant believes in its seafood, and serves it up with grace and expertise. Oyster Bar Steamed Oysters, Steamed Peel & Eat Shrimp, and Cole slaw is a typical menu.
Armadillo Grill - 439 Glenwood Ave., the menu at the Armadillo offers great Mexican dishes with a Texas spin, as well as some witty comments. The food is good, the service is good, and the Budweisers great.
Duck and Dumpling Restaurant – 222 S. Blount Street, guests can enjoy lunch and dinner in the perfect atmosphere of this restaurant that serves Chinese, Thai and Vietnamese foods, and not have to worry about getting back to the office late. With dishes that range from $3 to $12, there is something for every level of budgeting.
