KINGSTON LOCAL HISTORY
The Dutch arrived in the area to create their 3rd settlement. Although they had some serious clashes with the local Indians in the area, they persevered and eventually were able to build their houses and start a good and stable farming community. In the early 1900’s Kingston started their transportation system and the city grew with ease due to the natural resources of cement, bricks and bluestone

Hudson River Cruises - Kingston, New York, Telephone - (845) 340-4700 - Regardless of the time of year, each season offers it's own beauty. There are day cruises and night cruises, cruises with meals or cruises with dancing. Whatever takes your fancy, you need to experience Kingston from the Hudson's point of view.

Rondout Liqhthouse - Hudson River at the mouth of the Rondout Creek, Telephone - (845) 338-0071. This lighthouse was originally built in 1913. It now is a satelite museum operated by the Hudson River Maritime Museum. The furnishings and exhibits reflect the lives of the keepers and their families that have resided there.

Senate House Museum - 312 Fair Street, Kingston, Telephone - (845) 338-2786. Open April - October Sunday 1-5pm; Wednesday - Saturday 10am - 5 pm. Built in 1676, it is the oldest public building in America. The decendants of the original builder lived here until they handed it over to New York State in 1888. In the adjacent museum you will find John Vanderlyn's largest collection of painting and drawings in the country.

Ugly Gus Cafe and Bar - 11 Main Street, Kingston, Telephone - (845) 334-8459 / 331-5100 - for lunch served Monday through Friday 11:00 - 4:00 or dinner served Monday through Saturday 5:00 - 10:00, or just for drinks, the bar is open till it closes. A casual and relaxed atmosphere. Closed Sundays.
