Rondout Liqhthouse - Hudson River at the mouth of the Rondout Creek, Telephone - (845) 338-0071. This lighthouse was originally built in 1913. It now is a satelite museum operated by the Hudson River Maritime Museum. The furnishings and exhibits reflect the lives of the keepers and their families that have resided there.
Senate House Museum - 312 Fair Street, Kingston, Telephone - (845) 338-2786. Open April - October Sunday 1-5pm; Wednesday - Saturday 10am - 5 pm. Built in 1676, it is the oldest public building in America. The decendants of the original builder lived here until they handed it over to New York State in 1888. In the adjacent museum you will find John Vanderlyn's largest collection of painting and drawings in the country. |
