Camping and hiking in the pristine forest is the great attraction for nature lovers and back packers. Ruidoso is also filled with the ghosts of the famous and infamous lawmen, outlaws, and warriors, who lived, shot, rode, and fought, their way into the history books and hearts of the people. Ruidoso has been home to Billy the Kid, Kit Carson, “Black Jack” Pershing, the Buffalo Soldiers, and Smokey Bear.
