TOP DESTINATIONS Add your favourite destination
Boston - The capital of Massachusetts combines big-city living with a friendly, small town atmosphere. From the Boston Symphony Orchestra, ballet, theatre and wonderful museums and libraries to ballparks and aquariums, parks and gardens, gay clubs to rock clubs, this amazing city has it all.

Cambridge - Home to the nation’s oldest university, Harvard, the town is a vibrant mix of ethnic cultures, students and visitors. Harvard Square is alive with cafes, shops, nightclubs and street musicians. Bookstores, museums and libraries abound all round the town.

Plymouth – Known as “America’s Hometown” this is where this great nation started from. Visit Plimoth Plantation, a living history museum that re-creates the original 1627 Plymouth community. The town abounds in history and nostalgia and could keep you busy for days.

Worcester – The second largest city is nestled amongst rolling hills and meadows in the heart of the State. Home to more interesting museums, mansions and libraries it also boosts the very latest in fashion and trends.

Pioneer Valley – otherwise known as “Knowledge Corridor” – Five of the nation’s most prestigious art schools can be found within metres of one another. Stretching along the Connecticut River Valley as far as Springfield and Vermont, this area offers woods, hills, waterways and much, much more.

CULTURE Add your opinion
Massachusetts is undoubtedly the state of ‘higher learning.’ With its many universities, colleges and prestigious high schools it probably houses the cream of America’s intelligentsia.

GREAT OUTDOORS Add your great outdoor
The Berkshire Hills – Twin ranges of rumpled hills define this part of the state. In summer explore the mountain lakes, lush forests and meadows with brilliant wildflowers. Fall is the perfect time to take a picturesque foliage tour and winter will see you skiing the snowy slopes of the surrounding mountains.

BEACHES Add your favourite beach
Cape Cod - Fortunately most of the land is protected from development. Nature reserves of pine forests, marshes, swamps and cranberry bogs are all here to be enjoyed and appreciated. Most of the beaches on Cape Cod are clean and safe. During the summer they are crowded and popular, whilst winter will have you walking the dunes on your own. Depending on your preference, there is a beach for everyone.

Cahoon Hollow Beach - for the surfer types, with a fun beachside bar.

Corporation Beach - offers lovely sand and tidal pools for the kids to play safely.

Cape Cod National Seashore - has miles of sand, lighthouses and freshwater pools.

MOVING AROUND Add your opinion
The best way to see the state is by car. Boston can be a bit of a nightmare when it comes to driving, so delay renting a car until you are ready to take off to explore further afield.
