The Pioneer Sugar Mill Company was established but today it no longer operates. Herman Melville who was the author of Moby-Dick was also one of the whalers in Lahaina. 20 years later, the whaling industry waning, and sugar had taken over the town. |

Flying over the remote West Maui Mountains – Why don’t you go for a helicopter ride and look at the magnificent view of the canyons and valleys of the inaccessible West Maui Mountains. The view is absolutely breathtaking and you’ll get to see the prehistoric landscape of Maui which no one really gets to see. |

Contact number 9808)661-3322.You can get a picnic table at ocean’s edge in the shade under large beautiful kiawe and milo trees, where you can watch the sailboats and two islands on the near horizon. If you on the upper level, you get to utilize umbrellas and sit under plumeria trees. The food served are mahimahi, kalua pig and cabbage, shoyu chicken, teriyaki beef, and other local plate lunch specials also served with macaroni salad and rice.
Chez Paul - Situated in the heart of Olawalu village next to the Olawalu Store. The hours are as follows; Daily (except summer when they close on Sunday nights) 6-830 pm Reservations are recommended. Contact number (808) 661-3843. Prices for the main course meals are from $22,00 to $45,00. Credit cards are accepted, AE, Mc, V This is a classic French restaurant. As a starter why not enjoy wild mushrooms, goat cheese pastry in an aged Port wine sauce or crispy duck with local fruits or fresh island fish in champagne and cream sauce. For desert enjoy pineapple and vanilla crème brulee served in a pineapple shell. The attire is casual which means you can wear anything from tank tops, shorts and slippers.

Excellent service can be found. The menu offers roasted opakapaka with star anise, fennel fondu, orange and ginger. If you feel like really being extravagant enjoy the Kona lobster ragout with pasta or spinach salad with scallops. There is an appetizer menu which has shiitake and oyster mushrooms in puff pastry, fresh ahi and smoked salmon carpaccio, escargot ragout with burgundy butter and garlic butter. |
