Keys Mini Lobster Season – Get a jump-start on the lobster season with this annual event that allows the public to begin hunting for the sea critters a little early. The daily bag limit is six lobsters per person and there are other enforceable rules and regulations so make sure to inquire about them before you start your adventure. Visitors may rent boats, but it is recommend that this be done in advance due to the large crowd that the event attracts.

Mallory Square – This historic area is located right on the waterfront and is one of the best open-air markets found in the region. The area is filled with entertainment venues, area shops and music. Daily entertainment includes guitars, animal performances and jugglers. Many of the area sightseeing tours depart from Mallory Square so it the perfect start or end to any day while visiting Key West.

Ernest Hemingway Home and Museum – Visit the home of one of America's greatest authors at the Ernest Hemingway Home and Museum. Hemingway was known to write many of his now famous manuscripts here from 1928–1940. The Spanish influenced colonial home was built in the 1850's and features Hemmingway’s very own writing studio and swimming pool.

Louie’s Backyard - Louie's Backyard is known as one of the hot spots in Key West. The restaurant offers splendid views of the pristine Atlantic Ocean and an outdoor patio where guest can dine under the cool shade of tropical trees. The menu features premier selections like rack of lamb and key lime pie served in a pistachio crust. The Afterdeck bar offers drink and merriment into the wee morning hours.

Casa Cayo Hueso Restaurant - Featuring some of the best Cuban and Spanish cuisine in the area Casa Cayo Hueso Restaurant is a popular dining establishment with the locals. Live salsa music adds to the festive atmosphere that overlooks Mallory Square. The food is fresh and sometimes on the spicy side.

Origami - the locals names Origami the best sushi bar in town. For more than 12 years the owners have prided themselves on serving fresh and delicious sushi, tempura and teriyaki cuisine. The restaurant also offers a children's menu and garden patio.

KEY WEST BEACHES Add your favourite beach
Smathers Beach- This family friendly beach stretches over 2 miles of coastline and is regarded as one of the best-known beaches in all of Key West. The beach offers watersports (including rentals), picnic spots, swimming and snack stands. Although the beach was destroyed in 1998 by a hurricane is has flourished once again and has become a wonderful daytime retreat.

John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park - As the first undersea park created in the nation John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park is a sprawling 178 square nautical miles of mangrove swamps, coral reefs and sea grass beds. Visitors can enjoy snorkeling, swimming, scuba diving and boating. Rent a kayak or canoe or stay overnight in one of the parks campsites.

Higgs Beach , A long wooden pier gazes over the white beaches of this Key West beach. This beach is good for watersports, walking, etc… Take a stroll or have a party, this beach provides you with the atmosphere that you need to do either.

KEY WEST CHILDREN'S ACTIVITIES Add your favourite children's spot
Key West Aquarium – Key West Aquarium had been offering education and entertainment to the area since 1934. The exhibits feature a diverse selection of under water life including the shark and fish feeding held four times throughout the day. Visitors can take a guided tour of the facility or browse on their own. Children will enjoy the "touching area" where marine life is housed in shallow pools to allow for easy access.

Florida Keys Children’s Museum – This child friendly environment encourages children to use their imagination through play and exploration. Kids can view reptiles and other creatures that are indigenous to the Keys up close and personal or dress up in the pirate dress up area. If visitors want to enjoy outdoor activities they can look through the remains of a Bahamian village located on the mile-long outdoor trail. Children under 12 are free.

Dolphins Plus Inc. – Children will love Dolphins Plus, Inc. The complex offers an hour-long training session and then allows visitors to swim with the dolphin for a half an hour. Visitors can upgrade and spend 45 minutes with a trainer while playing with the dolphins in the dolphin pool. Reservations are required so make sure to call ahead.
