US Capitol, Washington DC – The most famous place in all of America is a great stop on any vacation to Washington DC. The capitol building houses all of the branches of the US government including, the Senate and the House of Representatives. Visitors can take a tour of the building and when Congress is in session visitors can view it for the galleries. Have lunch in the Senate Refectory where bean soup is always on the menu by law. Admission is free but plan to get there before 9 am because tickets are usually gone after that.

Mount Vernon – Renovated to reflect the days when the first president lived in the mansion this 500-acre estate is breathtaking. Visitors can view the Potomac River as it winds by the house from on the large expanse of green lush lawn. Visitors can stroll around the estate, tour the many building and participate in interactive exhibits that demonstrate faming techniques that date back to colonial times.

The National Mall – This enormous open space park expands from the US Capitol building to the Lincoln Memorial and then around the Tidal Basil all the way to the Jefferson Memorial. The park is the permanent residence of the Smithsonian museum, the famous Washington Memorial at the end of the long reflecting pool and the Vietnam Memorial. The park was intended as a meeting place for rallies and as a place to commemorate and encourage the freedoms that we as American's hold so dear.

White House – Due to recent security increases the White House is no longer available for public tours, but students and military personnel can tour with advance notice. The White House was nicknamed this after the exterior was "white-washed" after extensive damage was done to the mansion during the war in 1812. The house dates back to the second presidential era 1801. Even viewing it from the street is an extraordinarily moving experience.
