FORT COLLINS LOCAL HISTORY
Fort Collins began its history as an army camp along the river Poudre. In 1867, the camp was dismantled but the small community that had sprung up around it remained. Much of the old town has been preserved and can be seen in the Historic Town District.

Anheuser-Busch Tour Center – Learn about the Budweiser brewing process and see the world famous Budweiser Clydesdales.

Fort Collins Museum – Featuring regional cultural and natural history in three galleries housed in a sandstone building dating back to the early part of last century. Open Tuesday to Sunday 10am to 5pm, admission is free.

Great Stupa at Shambhala Mountain Center – This is the most impressive example of Buddhist sacred architecture outside of Asia. Filled with sacred art, you can also enjoy hiking, yoga, bodywork, meditation, good meals and lodging.

Auntie Stone’s Kitchen - 1513 E Mulberry. This is a really great family restaurant – it has the historic feel of the town’s past. The prices are reasonable, the food is good and there are arcade games for the children. Open daily 11am to 8pm weeknights, 10pm weekends.

Country Buffet - 118W. Troutman Parkway. Here, you will find delicious American home style cooking in a convenient location. There are discounts for seniors and children pricing. There are over 100 different items to choose from every day.

Rio Grande Mexican Restaurant - 149 W. Mountain Ave. Traditional tex-mex is prepared from scratch here daily. This restaurant caters for vegetarians. Open daily for lunch and dinner.

Cooper Smith’s Pub & Brewing - 5 Old Town Square. The oldest brew pub of its kind in Northern Colorado. The food and ale are great, with lovely outdoor patio seating in summer.

Sports Caster Bar & Grill -165 E Boardwalk Drive. Voted the best sports bar in town. The pub boasts 50 television sets in a smoke free environment.

There are some interesting shops to be found in town including: Color Your World, a trendy paint it yourself studio with over 300 items to choose from. Thunder Mountain Harley Davidson carries everything to do with Harleys.

Located in the heart of Old Town, Vintages is a micro wine making facility where you can order custom wines to suit your taste and then personalize the label.

FORT COLLINS CHILDREN'S ACTIVITIES Add your favourite children's spot
Alpine Funtier – Open daily, this is kid paradise if there ever was! Featuring go-karts, laser tag, miniature golf, bumper boats, mini train rides, foosball, air hockey, shuffleboard, pool amusement park style games with prizes and video games.

Discovery Center Science Museum – The only hands on science museum in Northern Colorado, with more than 100 interactive exhibits, the kids will love it and so will anyone with a curious mind. Open Tuesday to Saturday year round.
