PLAYACAR LOCAL HISTORY
Steeped in ancient Mayan history, the resort is surrounded by many fascinating sites which reveal the story of an amazing people who once lived here. Situated right next door to Playa del Carmen, this resort is becoming very popular for its privacy, security and exclusiveness.

PLAYACAR ATTRACTIONS Add your favourite attraction
Sian Ka’an Biosphere – This federally protected reserve between Tulum and Akumal features freshwater canals, tropical forests, mangrove wetlands and a 70 mile long barrier reef, the second largest in the world.

ATV Jungle Tours – Drive through the jungle in a 4 wheel drive, explore the ruins, rivers and waterfalls.

Puerto Morelos – This small fishing village has a car ferry to Cozumel, the island across the bay. At the dock dive excursions can be arranged to the 600m reef off shore to experience the breathtaking underwater life.

PLAYACAR RESTAURANTS Add your favourite restaurant
Checandole – Xel-Ha. Leave the resort for the evening and head into Xel-Ha where this Mexican home style cooking restaurant will have you coming back for more. Tacos, meat dishes and fresh fruit are the order of the day, at reasonable prices and friendly staff.

La Habichuela – Las Palapas. Spend the evening in this air-conditioned romantic restaurant, set in a lovely garden, with delicious food and tranquil ambience.

Los Huaraches – Tulum. Classic Mexican family cooking will have you munching on dishes such as deep fried corn meal breaded chicken breasts stuffed with cheese and spinach, stuffed tacos and the like, at very reasonable prices.

PLAYACAR BARS & CLUBS Add your favourite bar & club
Most of the hotels at the resort have their own bars, a few with nightclubs. If you want to leave the resort for the evening, head into either Cancun or Cozumel for a fun evening out.

Carlos ‘n’ Charlie’s – Punta Langosta. One of the most popular nightclubs in the area with locals, people from the resorts and the cruise ship crowd all vying for a place on the dance floor.

The City, Cancun - Three floors of the latest in sound equipment, live bands, all the right sophisticated people and loads of fun to be had by all.

PLAYACAR BEACHES Add your favourite beach
The beaches around the resort are all pristine, sandy-white and slope from the land into the beautiful azure sea. The Great Maya Reef is a chain of shallow reefs, drop offs and coral gardens. Ideal for snorkelling, diving and scuba diving.

PLAYACAR PARKS & GARDENS Add your favourite park & garden
Jardin Botanico – Dr. Alfred Barrera – Located approximately 30 km south of Playacar is home to orchids, bromeliads and other flora growing in their natural habitat.

Playacar Club de Golf – Designed by Robert von Hagge, this lovely 18 hole course is open every day from 6am. For just knocking about a few balls, the Driving Range is fun and inexpensive.

PLAYACAR SHOPPING Add your favourite attraction
The Diamond Shoppe – 5th Ave. – Whether you can afford them or not, this shop is well worth a visit, if just to browse. Packed with diamond necklaces, bracelets, rings, as well as Tanzanite stones and emeralds, the staff are well trained to assist and certified appraisals can be given on all purchases.

Montezuma – 5th Ave. – This one stop shop has a huge selection of beach bags, sandals, caps, hats and sarongs, as well as shot glasses, spoons and thimbles and Mexican traditional vanilla. A thoroughly enjoyable couple of hours can be spent just looking.

PLAYACAR CHILDREN'S ACTIVITIES Add your favourite children's spot
Swimming Pools - There are a number of pools around the Playacar resort, all with lifeguards on duty here and on the beaches, numerous activities for the kids and baby-sitting is available too.

Aktun Chen Park – Both parents and children will enjoy this fascinating park in the jungle, which is home to deer, monkeys, birds and much more.
