Calgary - This is the gateway to the Rockies, Canada's great mountain range. To make the most of this landscape, tourists should see if they can get on the train ride known as the Rocky Mountaineer that passes through this rugged terrain. Flowing through Calgary's centre is the Bow River and in summer, people use the river to float through the city in rafts. Kayakers and birdwatchers also find the river useful. Calgary itself is an pioneer town with a cowboy heritage that is celebrated every year in summer in the annual Calgary Stampede that includes rodeo shows and chuck wagon races.
Mont Tremblant - Canada is synonymous with winter sports and activities and this is one place that lives up to this reputation. Mont Tremblant is the tallest of the Laurentian range of mountains rising 560 m (2130 ft) therefore providing excellent features for skiing and snowboarding. Visitors can hike into the mountains to see deer or go on a dog sled tours. The town itself is a typical quant old style French village.
Whistler - This is a mountain ski resort that is busy the whole year round. Summer activities include horse riding, golf and mountain biking. It is Canada's major ski resort.
Banff - This is a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts. The 4,5 million visitors who come here every year want to experience the Rocky Mountains, with its hundreds of km of trails to explore, and the hot springs where they can bathe. The Banff National Park is a World Heritage Site and the town is Canada's highest. Exploration can be done by car, canoe, raft or on foot. Activities are adapted to the season and include skiing and snowboarding.
Niagara Falls City - It is an awesome experience to see 150 million liters of water of water per minute tumble down a rock mass as high as 56 m (184 ft). Thousands of people embarking on a new life in marriage believe the Niagara effect will be good for them and flock here to get married, which has dubbed the city as the wedding capital of Canada. The Niagara Falls area is a conservation area and its beautiful parks and gardens add to the ambience. Just across the river from the city is New York.
Vancouver - Located on a waterfront, the city has many colorful areas like Chinatown, Gas Town and Granville Island. The city is likely to be the first stop of newcomers to Canada, making it a very cosmopolitan city. The fact that there is a lot of business to be conducted in the city may be the attraction for these new ones.
Victoria - It has the country's mildest climate and is located on a harbour that overlooks many Victorian buildings. It is very British in outlook and visitors shouldn't be surprised by the tradition of high tea in the afternoon with the full works of clotted cream, berries and scones. Visitors are usually drawn into whale watching and other highlights in the city are the Royal British Museum and the Royal London Wax Museum. The city ticks on the tourism industry attracting 4 million visiters annually.
Quebec City - The whole city is like a living museum with its 18th and 19th century buildings. It is therefore no surprise that the city is a World Heritage site. With its cobbled and narrow streets, it is a city best explored on foot. There is the option of exploring it on a horse drawn sleigh which fits into the city's old world charm. French culture prevails in the city with its inclination for cafes, bistros and long easy conversations.
Toronto - The CN Tower, which is said to be the world's largest free standing structure dominates the city's skyline. There are fantastic views of the city, including Lake Ontario on whch the city is nestled, from the top. Toronto has been dubbed "Hollywood North" because it is quite usual to bump into a movie shoot. The city is one of the few in North America still using street cars so visitors tend to make the most of them while they can.

Hiking - The Rocky Mountains offer remote mountain landscapes for hiking and seeing wildlife. The West coast trail in the Pacific Rim National Park (Vancouver Island) is one of the world's extreme hiking and camping adventures that includes going through a deep rain forest.
Rock-climbing - Areas to look into include Collingwood and Thunder Bay in Ontario, Banff and Jasper in Alberta and Squamish in British Columbia.
Canoeing and Hiking - Main areas are Kejimkujik National Park in Nova Scotia, La Mauricie National Park, Quebec, Killarney Provincial Park, Ontario and Prince Albert National Park, Saskatchewan.
Skiing and Snowboarding - There are four main alpine centres. In Quebec, skiers head for the Laurentian mountain range. n British Columbia, they head for Whistler and at Banff in Alberta, the Rocky Mountains. Ontario also has winter sports.

| Heli Skiing in BC - by Jim from New Zealand - 2005-07-15 | | Last year I was lucky enough to visit BC and go Heli Skiing. It had always been my life long dream to ski vast amount of untouched pristine snow. However I thought that it wasn't possible due the extreme cost. That is until I read about Pantheon Helisports in Skier magazine. They offered a different heli skiing experience with more emphasis on the skiing and less on caviar and champange. We skied three days of heli assisted ski touring which was increadible. I love BC and I will be going back to Pantheon next year. I would go this year however it is just such a long flight from NZ. |

Lake Winnipeg - the eastern shore is lined with beaches that includes Grand Beach, very popular in season.
Toronto - The Beaches District of which Kew Beach is the most popular section.
British Columbia - Wreck Beach is British Columbia's busiest nude beach. |

| Cities and town are linked by Air Canada and other airlines. The country's VIA Rail virtually links all major towns and cities. Intercity bus services span the whole country and are economical and comfortable. |
| Air Travel - by Ryan Rumpel from Canada - 2005-12-06 | | There are two major companies that fly in Canada. One, as mentioned, is Air Canada, which goes to most cities. The second, that I find a lot better, is WestJet. WestJet is a lot cheaper to fly, more leg room than most Air Canada flights, and has added live satellite TV available at every seat, with controls being in the armrests of the chairs. That being said, WestJet doesn't fly everywhere in Canada, but they are expanding, while Air Canada flies into all cities that have at least a medium-sized airport. |
