Abertarff House and Dunbar's Hospital - Church Street. Built in 1593 and 1668 respectively, these historic buildings are practically the only ancient buildings left in a town that was re-vamped in the 19th century. St Andrew's Cathedral was built between 1866-69, and is worth a visit.

The Scottish Highlands cover the northern two-thirds of mainland Scotland and has spectacular, rugged scenery comprising of awe-inspiring mountains, lochs, rivers and glens. Inverness is the capital of the Highlands and the perfect base for a holiday exploring the region, which is one of Europe's last huge wilderness areas.

Loch Ness – Famous throughout the world for the Loch Ness monster, this beautiful loch is worth a visit for the scenery alone, whilst the lure of monster hunting is an added bonus.

Inverness Castle – The present castle is a 19th-century replacement of the 15th-century original, which was destroyed by Jacobites in 1746. The castle is the number one attraction in the city and these days it serves as the local sheriff's court. A statue of Flora MacDonald stands in front of the castle Flora is famous for helping Bonnie Prince Charlie escape his enemies after his defeat at the Battle of Culloden in 1746.

Terror Tour – This is an unusual and rather engaging tour where groups are walked around Inverness town centre and entertained with gruesome stories told along the way of witches, ghosts, and other ghastly happenings.
