Womad Festival – This festival is held over 3 days in July each year. It is a vast celebration of World Music, Arts and Dance, and was initially inspired by Peter Gabriel. The festival is held in Rivermead Leisure Complex, Richfield Avenue, which is just north of the town centre.
Reading Festival - This is also held at the Rivermead Leisure Complex, later in the summer and features numerous big names of contemporary music. The music press publish details of the Acts appearing approximately two to three months in advance and tickets can be bought at record shops across England.
The Vale of White Horse - The Chiltern Hills. The Vale is the site of the giant figure of a White Horse which was cut into the hill in prehistoric times. It is a stunning site and the views from the top of the Vale are fabulous.
The Museum of Reading - Blagrave Street. The Museum is dedicated to preserving the history and development of Reading, from its earliest Saxon settlements to the town’s modern day industrial heritage. The highlight of any visit must be Britain's "Bayeaux" tapestry which is the only full size replica of Europe’s famous embroidery.
Windsor Castle – Windsor. The Castle is the official residence of The Queen and is the largest occupied castle in the world. Visitors can walk around the State Apartments and the stunning grounds.

Ken Hom’s Yellow River Cafe – The Oracle. Inspired by the television chef, the Chinese food here is well cooked and presented.
The French Horn - Sonning. Fine dining is on offer at this classy restaurant. It is worth the drive out from Reading to enjoy the experience here.
Loch Fyne Seafood Restaurant - on the Kennet, Bridge Street – This is the place to go if you want good seafood, which is well prepared and served.
Iguana - St Mary's Butts / Broad Street. This is the town’s only veggie restaurant; it serves good, tasty food at reasonable prices.

Bar Risa - Friar Street. The bar is the home of the Jongleurs Comedy Club, which is based in an upstairs room.
The Monks Retreat (Wetherspoons) – Friar Street. This is a lively pub, which serves reasonably priced food and drink.
Revolution - 12-16 Station Road. This is an ultra-trendy vodka bar with a fashionable clientele.
Todd's - Castle Street. The ideal pub for real ale fans, the pies are excellent as well.

Chessington World of Adventure - Leatherhead Road, Chessington. The theme park is fairly close to Reading and has with plenty of attractions for kids of all ages.
Ipsden Wellplace Zoo - Ipsden, Oxfordshire.The Zoo has a large variety of birds and animals from all over the world.
