NOTTINGHAM ATTRACTIONS Add your favourite attraction
Belvoir Castle – For a thousand years this Norman castle has been home to the Rutland family, and is currently where the 11th Duke and his duchess live with their young family. Belvoir means ‘beautiful view’, which is as fitting today as it was when the castle was first built, looking out as it does over the breathtakingly beautiful Vale of Belvoir. The family shares its heritage generously and puts on exciting events and activities such as concerts and the superb ‘Country Fair’, and in 2004 the opening of the hidden ‘Spring Gardens’.

Ghost Walks in Nottingham – This city has been around for eons and has seen much history, not to mention all those dastardly murders and unexplained deaths so take a guided walk around the ancient streets near the castle and hear about the ghosts and ghouls who roam the fair city in the dead of night.

Newstead Abbey – Lord Byron’s ancestral home, beautiful, historic, and filled with haunting and legends, was originally a medieval priory and set in over three hundred acres of parkland with magnificent gardens.

The Galleries of Justice – Learn about justice in England when there was no such thing as prisoner rehabilitation and criminals were treated with harsh retribution after being found guilty in one of the magnificent Victorian courtrooms. Hands-on exhibitions with real warders bring a dark period in England’s history to life with chilling effect.

NOTTINGHAM RESTAURANTS Add your favourite restaurant
The Indian – Bentink Road, enjoy the finest curries made to perfection in this excellent eatery in Hyson Green, where the decor is white marble and the service efficient and friendly.

Mayfair Chinese restaurant - Mansfield Road, although its outside appearance is not as elegant as other places, being a converted terraced house, the food is divine and the price within a reasonable budget.

Ben Bowers - Wollaton Street/Derby Road, good food is what brings in the hungry patrons to this excellent restaurant, but the dancing keeps them there until the wee hours. Definitely one for your list of must-go-to’s for a night to remember.

El bandit Mexican restaurant - 199, Mansfield Road, if you are hungry and enjoy excellence in food, and an atmosphere of relaxed friendliness, then pop in to the Mexican eatery where the portions are massive, the staff good-looking enough to eat, and the selection of drinks beyond your wildest imaginings.

NOTTINGHAM BARS & CLUBS Add your favourite bar & club
Trip to Jerusalem - 1 Brewhouse Yard, Castle Road, this is quite possibly the oldest inn in England with its beginnings in AD1189, when it was hewn out the castle rock. Even if you are not a boozer, the history of the place makes it worth visiting.

Fellows, Morton and Clayton - 54 Canal Street, students, locals, and a complete cross-section of customers frequent this friendly pub, which has a brewery at the back so there is very little chance of running out of booze. The pub is adjacent to the Canal Museum, and the canal, in which unexpected midnight plunges have sobered many a tipsy midnight reveller.

Lincolnshire Poacher - 61 Mansfield Road, this trendy pub has an excellent selection of hand-pulled ales and well worth popping in to for a pint or two. Close to the city centre it is convenient and not to far to stumble home from.

The Boat Inn - Priory Street, Old Lenton, close to the University and the Queen's Medical Centre, this friendly pub is a favourite of the local doctors and nurses. So pop in for a pint and relax, knowing the ale is good, and the company better.

NOTTINGHAM CHILDREN'S ACTIVITIES Add your favourite children's spot
Sundown Adventure Land – Let your kids enjoy the time of their lives in The Story Book Village where fairytales from their storybooks spring to life, or allow them a turn to get soaked on the Boozy Barrel Boat Ride, fight off bandits on the Rocky Mountain Railroad, or cook up some spells in the Witches Kitchen.

Sherwood Forest Farm Park - The Rare Breeds Survival Trust for the breeding of rare and protected farm animals approves of this establishment where families can see domestic animals that were last seen in their great-grandparents' days. There are indoor and outdoor play areas for all age groups, as well as an adventure playground, and special enclosures for the under 5’s, with aerial slide, ball pools and sandpit. There is a tearoom serving homemade cakes, light snacks and ice creams, and a gift shop on the premises.
