DEVON ATTRACTIONS Add your favourite attraction
Brendon – this lovely village with whitewashed walls and thatched roofs is close to Hoccombe Coombe, known as Doone Valley, which closely resembles the Doone’s hideout in the RD Blackmore novel, Lorna Doone.

Dunster – Once a port in the 16th century, until the sea receded and left it high and dry two miles from the waters edge, Dunster is an enchanting little town with a grand sandstone castle and more teashops than you can wave a tea bag at. It also has a 17th century Yarn Market and old world houses line its streets.

Porlock – this is a pretty little place with harbour and a very steep hill that the main road climbs. It neighbours Culbone Village, a tiny settlement that consists of a house, a cottage and the smallest church in England, measuring only twelve feet across.

Dartmoor – tales of escaping prisoners or crazed hounds seem to be perfectly feasible when looking over England’s only remaining wilderness, and National Park, but the area has a number of places to see such as a restored Victorian copper port, and natural attractions from waterfalls to the towering tors rising 2000 feet into the sky.

DEVON CUISINE Add your favourite dish
Clotted Cream and Cider must surely be Devon’s most famous products, and it is no wonder they are such laid-back crowd. Traditional Devon ‘scrumpy’ is farm cider made from the windfall apples that were bruised and unfit for cooking or eating, but perfect for fermenting and making cider.

Clotted Cream is rich and thick and when added to scones and strawberry jam life becomes so much more bearable.

DEVON RESTAURANTS Add your favourite restaurant
Dawsons Restaurant - 6 Green Bank, Newton Poppleford, what used to be Jolly’s restaurant has been refurbished and turned into an attractive and luxurious cottage-style restaurant and is one of the finest in Devon.

Northcote Manor – Located in north Devon, the award winning Northcote Manor restaurant in the magnificent Country House Hotel serves only the finest cuisine and deserves the accolades showered on it.

Kitley House Hotel 7 Restaurant – close to the historic city of Plymouth, this country house hotel offers a fine restaurant on the lakeside, where a family can appreciate the joys of rural life with the luxury of excellence.

Combe House Hotel & Restaurant - Gittisham, Nr Exeter, the informal atmosphere at this top quality restaurant gives no indication of the excellence of its cuisine. Enjoy a candlelit dinner by night, or swing by during the day for a view over your meal of some of the most spectacular scenery on the map.

DEVON CHILDREN'S ACTIVITIES Add your favourite children's spot
Lords Meadow Leisure Centre – Commercial Road, Crediton, there are a number of activities on offer at this leisure centre, and children of all ages can find something to amuse them from swimming lessons to gymnastics, and jumping jacks to trampolines.

Keypitts Stables & Quads - Keypitts Farm, Ilfracombe, set in a picturesque valley off the North Devon coast, Keypitts Farm offers over 200 acres of wooded countryside, with babbling brooks and scenic ponds where visitors can explore at leisure or enjoy some of the organised activities arranged by the farm.

St. George's House - Georgeham, Braunton, this is non-profit Christian Outdoor Centre that caters to all comers, Christian or otherwise, and arranges activities such as Kayaking, Canoeing, Rock Climbing and Abseiling, Surfing, Mountain Biking, and loads more of healthy outdoor sports for children. Fully qualified staff ensures the safety of anyone in their care and beginners will be given every attention.

Survival Paintball Games - South Down Farm, Yarnscombe, Barnstaple, this organisation has been running since 1988 and offers twenty acres of woodland and state of the art equipment for its players. There is also an undercover HQ hut where combatants can enjoy free liquid refreshment throughout the day, or buy hot or cold snacks from the ‘tuck ship’.
