CAMBRIDGE ATTRACTIONS Add your favourite attraction
Anglesey Abbey Gardens & Lode Mill – set in 98 acres of superb landscaped gardens, this magnificent 16th century house has been fully restored. On its grounds can be found a working water mill that probably dates back to the eighteenth century, and can be seen working on Saturdays.

Kentwell Hall – Set in the heart of Suffolk, this grand Tudor mansion is undergoing restoration by its present owner, Patrick Phillips, a task that has so far taken 34 years, and is still incomplete. Loved and lived-in, Kentwell is a pleasure to visit.

Oliver Cromwell's House – Step inside the family home of Oliver Cromwell and see how things were done back in the 17th century, but don’t dally in his bedroom or you may see or hear some ghostly stirrings.

Audley End House and Gardens (English Heritage) – this Jacobean mansion was remodelled in the 18th and 19th centuries, and the interior reflects this heritage. John Adam’s work can be seen in some of the rooms he designed, while Capability Brown landscaped the surrounding parkland.

CAMBRIDGE RESTAURANTS Add your favourite restaurant
Anchor Inn – Sutton Gault, Ely, this three hundred and fifty year old in is set in a remote location overlooking the Fens and serves its customers well with warm wooden furnishings, log fires and old gas lighting. With spectacular views of the Ouse Washes and the brilliant sunsets of the countryside, one might be forgiven for thinking we were far from the nearest civilization, but in fact, are very close the City of Cambridge and its magnificent cathedral.

Chequers Inn - St Mary's Street, Eynesbury, St Neots, this sixteenth century restaurant is a freehouse, and serves a range of dishes from good nourishing traditional English, to continental cuisine of the finest quality. Take you meal outside on the patio or enjoy the warmth and comfort of the old-fashioned inglenook beside the roaring log fire.

No 1 King’s Parade – The Cellars, 1 King’s Parade, This atmospheric cellar that is located over the road from King’s College offers fine dining in the evenings, with lighter meals or snacks during the day.

Venue On The Roof Restaurant - 4th Floor, Cambridge Arts Theatre, 6 St Edwards Passage, this is a fresh, modern restaurant that has a glass roof, and serves modern, contemporary cuisine in the city centre. Prices are acceptable and not over-board at all, while the food is all that.

CAMBRIDGE BARS & CLUBS Add your favourite bar & club
Ha! Ha! Bar - 17 Trinity Street, enjoy a drink or two at this mod bar and when feeling a touch peckish, try the menu for some contemporary dining. There access for disabled patrons.

Carlton Arms – Carlton Way, this is a family-friendly pub, with a beautiful garden and pleasant staff. For service from people who know what they are talking about when it comes to beer, you can’t go wrong nipping in to Carlton Arms.

Cambridge Blue - Gwydir Street, possibly the very point that this pub to non-smokers will be the same reason for smokers to avoid it. Cambridge Blue is one of the first no smoking pubs in Britain, but other than that is a friendly place with a great atmosphere.

The Boat Race - 170 East Road, known for its live bands, this traditional pub is an excellent venue for enjoying music with your beer. Putting on every kind of music from blues, indie, pop, rock, and traditional Irish folk music, the price of tickets differ according to performer, but are at times free of charge.

CAMBRIDGE CHILDREN'S ACTIVITIES Add your favourite children's spot
The National Stud – This is one of Britain’s most esteemed horse breeding centres, and visitors can look behind the scenes in one of the guided tours put on the organisers. Children will thrill to the sight of the mares and foals in their paddocks, or enjoy a coach ride that is part of the tour.

Wood Green Animal Shelter – abandoned pets find refuge in this animal shelter, as well as wildlife such as rabbits, and the odd llama, and a myriad of cats and dogs. Children are allowed to stroke and pet the animals. Weekends see different kinds of events and attractions being put on from car boot sales to concerts, while the water gardens, animal trails and playground are open daily.

Shepreth Wildlife Park – Wolves, prairie dogs, ponies, and ducks, can all be found at this very worthy animal sanctuary, where children are encouraged to stroke them or feed them. A tropical pavilion is home to exotic butterflies, and all sorts of creepy-crawlies live in the new Waterworld and Bug City. With a fort and play area for the kids, and a café and shop for parents to relax in while the young ones run riot, this is a perfect place for families.
