Statuetes found in the Temple of Athena Pallas was found during excavations in the Acropolis which was located on the top of a hill int the center of the city.
A statue of a woman who belonged to the Archaic Age is one of the most important findings to date. The statue has been displayed in the Izmir Museum of Archaeology. Cesme which is approximately 94 kilometers west of Izmir has healing mineral springs, excellent beaches and crystal clear waters.
Cesme was called the "Little Harbor" by sailors but the name soon changed to Cesme because of the ice-cold waters in its fountains. |

Cesme Castle - The castle was built in 1508 by the Ottoman Sultan Bayazit II. Here you'll find all the characteristics of the Ottoman Architecture. Archeological displays of items found at Erythrai are to be found inside the castle. The Cesme Peninsula International Music Concert is hosted in the castle because of its historical structure. The festival is celebrated each year between 2 to 7 July. One will also find the statue of Kaptan-i Derya Hasan Pasa of Algeria with lions at his side in front of the castle.
Cesme Hot Springs - This is a very interesting place to visit. Located on the coast near the Cesme Hot Springs Beach on the Izmir-Cesme road 5 kilometers from Cesme. The temperature of the water is 58C which contains sodium chloride, potassium chloride and magnesium chloride. For those who suffer from chronic rheumatism, poor metabolism, gout, obesity, rickets, skin conditions, gynecological disorders, liver and urinary tract conditions, the water is said to be very good. Modern facilities can definitely be found in the vicinity of the hot springs. You will never be without transport as Cesme buses are provided and they leave from Uckuyular.
Hunting - For those who are interested in hunting, this is the place to be. Wild hogs are hunted and is said to be exciting and interesting. One first needs permission from the proper authorities before anyone can participate in the hunt. Partridges and rabbits can also be found. During September to December it is the open hunting season where plenty of rabbits and partridges can be found. During winter it is also very exciting to hunt because one never knows what one will find. |

| The locals food made up mainly of seafood. The best seafood dish is the sea bass, bream, octopus and oysters. Other delicacies is the "seker isi" which is served with a very special fig jam, "kuru sikma" is a flat wrapped bread, goose drumsticks, almond milk and a grilled sandwich called "kumru" is also very enjoyable. Artichokes and melons is also a favourite and is exported all over the world. |
