Cathedral of Lausanne - Place de la Cathedrale. The cathedral is the main attraction of the Upper Town and is one of the best medieval churches in Switzerland. The cathedral dates back to the late 12th century and took around 100 years to complete. Visitors can climb the cathedral's two towers and take in some of the best views of LAusanne from the observation decks.
Musee Historique de Lausanne/Ancien-Eveche - 4, place de la Cathedrale. The museum was once a bishop's palace untill the 15th century. The museum has a scale model, which shows the old city as it was in the 17th century. The Ancien-Eveche has a fortified tower, which dates back to the 13th century, and houses a collection of historical studies of Old Lausanne.
Cantonal Museum of Fine Arts - In the Palais de Rumine. The Fine Arts Museum is dedicated to the works of 19th century artists who painted in western Switzerland, it also contains a good collection of French paintings, including works by Degas; Renoir; Bonnard; Matisse; and Utrillo. |

Cafe Beau-Rivage - In the Beau-Rivage Palace. This is one of the best restaurants near town, and is very popular with locals and tourists alike. The elegant restaurant is decorated with mirrors; pillars; bay windows; and has a flowery terrace. They serve a wide range of Austrian; German; and Swiss dishes, at reasonable prices.
La Grappe d'Or - 3, rue Cheneau-de-Bourg. This is possibly the best restaurant in town, and it is very popular with tourists to Lausanne. They serve a wide range of Austrian; German; and Swiss dishes. The prices are above average, but the unforgettable dining experience and exquisite food are well worth the extra money.
Le Jardln d'Asie - 7, av. du Theatre. This is the best Asian restaurant in town, and is the best place to go if you're looking to take a break from the regional cuisine and want to try something else. They serve a wide range of Chinese; Japanese; and Malaysian dishes. The restaurant is very popular with locals and tourists alike. |

Le Mad - Route de Geneve. This is the best disco in town, and is very popular with the younger crowd of locals and tourists. DJs spin a range of all the latest dance music currently being played in the Paris discos. This is a great place to go and party till the early hours of the morning.
Ouchy White Horse Pub - 66, av. d'Ouchy. This is one of the most popular bars in town, and attracts a mixed crowd of locals and tourists. This is the place to go to sit back; have some beer; and meet some new people.
Le Grand Cafe - Esplanade de Mont-Benon. This Planet Hollywood inspired bar is very popular with a mixed crowd of locals and tourists. This is a great place to go for a fun evening out, while having a few drinks and making some new friends. |
