TARRAGONA LOCAL HISTORY
This city that was founded in 218 BC used to be a Roman capital under Augustus. The city now serves as its province's second most important port. Tarragona has a lively student population and is also well-known for its beaches.

TARRAGONA ATTRACTIONS Add your favourite attraction
Museo Nacional Arquelògic – Pl. del Rei. Frescoes, mosaics, statues and utensils dating from the 2nd Century BC are on display here. Admission fees to this museum also gives you access to Museo i Necròpolis Paleocristians, an old Christian burial site.

Museo de la Romanitat – Pl. del Rei. The museum incorporates the Roman Circus where chariot races were once held. It also houses the Pretori, the governor’s house, which dates from the 1st Century BC. According to rumour this is the house were Pontius Pilate was born.

Pont del Diable (Devil’s Bridge) – View this amazingly well-preserved Roman aqueduct.

TARRAGONA RESTAURANTS Add your favourite restaurant
La Teula – 16 C. Merceria. A great stop for light meal, as their sandwiches and salads are out of this world.

Restaurant El Casserón – 4 Trinquet Nou. Their home cooked meals are sure to still your hunger, whilst the ceiling fans will give you a break from the scorching heat.

Pensión Marsal – Perfect for those days when you are starving: eat a full 4-course meal at a very affordable price.

Port Esportiu – This is the place to be for dancing and is at its busiest after midnight.

Puerto de Portivo – One of the most popular bars in Tarragona. The place starts to liven up after 9pm.

Velvet – A nice bar to enjoy music and a few drinks with people.

Platja del Miracle - Find Tarragona's main beach along Baixada del Miracle.

L'Arboc - Baix Penedès. Buy yourself some of the finest hand-made lace here.

TARRAGONA CHILDREN'S ACTIVITIES Add your favourite children's spot
Port Aventura - 7km south-west of Tarragona. This theme park will allow for a welcome break from all the cultural sites. The amusement park is divided into 5 sections: China, Mexico, the American Far West, the Mediterranean and Polynesia.

Night rider tickets are available from 7pm at a discounted rate.
