LORO PARQUE LOCAL HISTORY
Located at the foot of the towering and majestic Teide volcano is Loro Parque, where the visitor can see some of the most exotic species of animal and marine life of the world. Kept in exactly replicated natural environments, here are gorillas, chimpanzees, jaguars, tigers, flamingos, parrots, and representatives of the water world, such as sea lions, sharks, and dolphins, to name just a few.

Loro Parque functions under two directives, one, to keep up the numbers of endangered or threatened species, and in so doing provide a ‘genetic reserve’, and secondly to encourage the understanding and appreciation of nature and its creatures.

LORO PARQUE ATTRACTIONS Add your favourite attraction
Porcelain Museum – The General Administrator of Loro Parque, has over the years, and in the course of his travels, collection some exquisite examples of porcelain, created by masters of the craft. These are on display at Loro Parque, and the public is invited to come in and see these beautiful works of art by Meissen, Rosenthal, and Hutschenreuther and others.

Thai Village – With its six houses, this magnificent building is the largest traditional Thai construction ever built outside of Thailand. It is constructed entirely out of wood, and the roof gables and ridges are decorated with 24-carat gold leaf. The roof tiles, and the beautifully ornamented gables and ridges were all hand-made by master craftsmen in Thailand.

Orquidarium – The exquisite beauty and scent of Mother Natures magnum opus, the orchid, cannot be adequately described in this beautiful place where they bloom all year round in different forms. Phalaenopsis, Cattleya, Cymbidium, Cambria, Odontoglossum and the Miltonia, are just some of the varieties that can be seen at the Orquidarium.

Naturavision – Visit the cinema that was specifically built to show the film ‘Nature Rediscovered’, and succumb to the magic of nature and see some of the most awe-inspiring and beautiful places on earth. With its Showscan technology and digital sound, this is an unforgettable film, and was first shown in 1992 at the Expo in Seville.

LORO PARQUE RESTAURANTS Add your favourite restaurant
Cafe Vista Teide – Located in Loro Parque, this cafe lives up to its name and provides great views while you enjoy your food and the excellent service.

Casa Pepe – Located in Loro Parque, this is a great place to take a break and renew your energy with a meal and some refreshments.

Grill Patio del Loro – Located within Loro Parque, the visitor can enjoy a great meal in superb surroundings, and then get back to studying the amazing animals in the park.

Pizzeria – Located in Loro Parque, when it has become just too overwhelming, and you are need of some substantial nourishment, drop in at this pizzeria for some good old-fashioned Italian food.

LORO PARQUE CHILDREN'S ACTIVITIES Add your favourite children's spot
Dolphinarium – This is the biggest and the most beautiful dolphinarium in Europe, with the most advanced and sophisticated technology for maintenance, exhibition and reproduction, which of-course means very little kids. All they want to see are the dolphins in action, and that they certainly can do here. Give your children an experience they will never forget and take them to a show where the dolphins leap from the water and perform agile and graceful exercises in the air.

Parrots – Take the family to see the world’s largest collection of parrots in Loro Parque, where they are studied for scientific research and knowledge, in an attempt to make the world a better place for them. Let your children thrill to the gorgeous colouring and variety of these birds that come in every size and shape, from every corner of the world.

Chimpland – The perfectly reproduced habitat for these happy chappies was originally built to protect a group of chimpanzees that were being abused by street photographers, and were confiscated and brought to Loro Parque. Rescued and treated well, the chimps have reproduced and established a family group.
