Torre de Hercules - This 2nd century tower perched on the end of the peninsula is the world's oldest working lighthouse. According to legend it was built by Hercules himself. You, too, can develop Herculian rippling thigh and calf muscles by taking a trot up and down the 239 steps, well worth it for the view of the city and surrounding countryside from the top.
Castillo de San Anton - Take a trip back in time with a visit to this 16th century fort, currently housing the area's archealogical museum. Pieces from the area dating back to Roman, Bronze and even earlier times reflect the rich heritage of Spain.
Aquarium Finisterrae - Move over Nemo, there are over 2000 species of ocean fish in this aquarium. Visually giving the impression of being part of the sea, the enormous tanks are partly partitioned by large rocks. Crowd pullers include seals, stingrays and the sharks - the creatures we love to hate. There is an Octopus Garden with the unlikely theme of the Beatles. Meson Trotamundos - 9 Pr. Espana. Open daily from 10am to 2am this restaurant serves the most delicious octopus dish, pulpo gallego, a Galician delicacy. Must be accompanied by a good Spanish vino.
Casa Santiso - 26 Calle de la Franja. If you are on a tight budget and want good value for money, pop into this conveniently situated restuarant for their set lunch menu.
Restaurante Bania - 7 C Cordeleira. Friendly, good service with delicious vegggie dishes and salads, their speciality. Don't go for a late lunch as they are open from 9.30am to 1pm and break (for a long siesta?) until 4pm and are open until 11.30pm at night. |

Sol Piramide - 50 C.Juan Florez. If you want to literally feel the music beating through your body, head for this noisy dance club. Dance clubs generally come to life well after midnight, as Spaniards love to party during the wee hours of the morning.
Picasso - C.Sol. If you enjoy house music, this club is for you and is open from midnight to 4am. The locals start the evening off with a visit to a of bar or two around the C.La Florida or C. San Juan area before wending their way to a favourite dance spot such as this one. |

Praia del Orzan - Grab your waxed surfboard and head for this popular surfing spot, only a ten minute walk away from the tourist office on Avenida de la Marina. Head to the northwest side of the isthmus to find the local beaches which stretch for about 30km along the westcoast of La Coruna.
Mino - This is a popular and lovely beach, 12km north of Betanzos which is a 45 minute drive from La Coruna.
Praia As Catedrais - This beautiful beach, situated in Ribadeo, is one of the jewels of the Spanish coastline. Offering lazy lagoons, natural rock formations and caves that are perfect for exploring. You won't want to leave. |
