IBIZA ATTRACTIONS Add your favourite attraction
Monumento a los Corsarios – Ibiza is proud of the fact that it has a unique monument, one that honours pirates. If, however one understands that pirates actually defended the island from enemy attacks from the 18th century onwards, it becomes clear why the good citizens erected the obelisk on Ibiza’s harbour.

Catedral de Santa Maria de Ibiza – Part Gothic and part Baroque, and built in 1235, this cathedral can be found in the old part of Ibiza, at Dalt Vila. In the Diocesan Museum are displays of religious artefacts, including the cathedrals most treasured object, a silver and gold monstrance (a vessel in which the consecrated Host is exposed for adoration) and was fashioned in 1399.

The Archaeology Museum – Declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, the museum is located next door to the cathedral. On display are exhibits that date from the Phoenician-Punic, Roman, Arab and Medieval periods, and among the objects are two Roman statues that once guarded the entrance to the city at the main gate of the walls.

Museo de Arte Contemporaneo de Ibiza – Located in one of the ancient buildings that form part of the city wall, Ibiza’s contemporary art museum organises several exhibitions of local and other works. Some of the permanent collections include works by Erwin Broner Will Faber, Barry Flanagan, and Hans Hinterreiter. The museum also hosts the biennial international art show that was first organised in 1963, and was the reason the museum was developed.

IBIZA RESTAURANTS Add your favourite restaurant
Bon Loc – Carretera de Jesus, with home made food and a good daily set menu, this bar and restaurant is becoming one of the most popular venues in town. Known for its tapas and paella, it is frequented by the local and very colourful population of aging hippies who settled in Ibiza.

Villa Mercedes – Paseo del Mar, with a top rate chef who prepares the finest of international cuisine, an evening at this restaurant is one never to be forgotten. Built on the site that overlooks the San Antonio bay the view is almost as marvellous as the food.

Can Alfredo – Paseo Vara de Rey 16, patronised by some of the world’s celebrities, with photos on the wall to prove it, this must surely be one of the finest restaurants on the island. The menu reflects true Ibizan cuisine with such delights as "sofrit pages" (Fried potatoes, meat and sausage), or "bullit de peix" (fish and potato stew).

IBIZA BARS & CLUBS Add your favourite bar & club
Cafe Mambo - Vara del Rey, 40, with a resident DJ pumping out techno, a terrace to watch the sun go down, and a crowd of like-minded under 30’s, this is a great place to get primed for the night before hitting the nightclubs of Ibiza.

Disco Point – Mutra, offering much for many this place has different faces for different crowds. It serves as a breakfast place, favourite watering hole, restaurant, and karaoke bar.

Naif – Carretera de San Jose, found in a traditional old country house that has been converted to a roadside bar, this place dozes in the sun for most of the day, then in the small hours starts pumping, and the crowd starts jumping, as the dawn creeps across the sky.

IBIZA SHOPPING Add your favourite attraction
Cardona Prats - Ample, 7, San Antonio, this is a classic souvenir shop and the tourist can find everything and anything he could possible want, from T-shirts and sunglasses, through the entire range of crafts, toys, jewellery, and bags.

Entri - Bartomeu Vicent Ramon, 5, located as it is almost in the harbour, this shop sees a lot of passing trade, and is fully stocked to deal with the hordes of tourists that flock to its doors. Here you can buy those gifts for people who have been kind to you, or who are waiting for you at home, or treat yourself to souvenirs of your stay in Ibiza.

Jazira – Via Punica 1, fine silver jewellery to suit every taste, from granny’s favourite brooch to a Goth’s nose ring, can be found in this shop, and at a reasonable price too. The other line they stock are the leather bags they sell, also at a reasonable price, though obviously a little more expensive.

IBIZA CHILDREN'S ACTIVITIES Add your favourite children's spot
Ponylandia - Carretera Eivissa-Jesus, With large grounds and ponies for children to ride, this is a good place for a family outing, especially on Sundays when there is a market selling odds and ends, such as jewellery, or ornaments.

Cursos para ninos en San Jose - Pere Escanelles, s/n (Ayuntamiento) San Jose, during the winter months mainly, but also at other times of the year, the San Jose council organises a series of workshops and courses for children, such as pottery, painting, or theatre. As the dates and the activities differ from year to year, so it is wise to ask the council for more information.

Swimming Lessons with Ibiza Swim - by Sam Ferguson from United Kingdom - 2007-12-11
We booked swimming lessons with Ibiza Swim www.ibizaswim.com for our children while we were on holiday this summer and they were brilliant. The kids really looked forward to their lessons and it was nice for them to have an activity to look forward to but also to learn. I would recommend Ibiza Swim to anyone with children or who wants to swim!
