Vega de Rio Palma – on the island of Fuerteventura is a beautiful valley with a village of the same name, and a gorgeous 17th century church, Nuestra Senora de la Pena. It’s muted colouring of clay and white blends perfectly with the greenery of its surroundings, and makes Vega de Rio Palma a peaceful retreat from the hectic business of rubber-necking and vying for souvenirs, and offers instead some wonderful photo opportunities.
Antigua – One of the oldest villages on the island, with a population of about 3000, Antigua was built in 18th century and doesn’t seem in any hurry to catch up with the modern rush of the world. A picturesque old church, the Cruz de los Caldos, which was built round about the same time as the town came into being, dominates the town, and is set among the greenery of trees and shrubbery. The village square, next to the church, is filled with flowers that lend colour and perfume the air. The cultural center of Antigua is a restored windmill, and houses a craft shop selling local product.
Gran Tarajal – With no illusions of grandeur or desire to be the tourist capital of anywhere, Gran Tarajal is a delightful town to visit. For easy relaxation take a stroll down to the harbour and watch the fisherman at work that is as old as time itself, or sip a cup of coffee beside the fountain in the town center, and wonder at the marvelous work that went into making the six sea horses adorning it.
The Windmills – Being restored as tourist centers, the windmills that dot the countryside of Fuerteventura remind visitors of the islands farming heritage, when the island was know as the granary of Canaries. |

Gibsons – Corralejo, with more than a nod to vegetarians, as the owner is himself one, this restaurant has a wide, varied menu, and offers cuisine that ranges over Mexican, Indian, to plain old fish and chips.
Rosie O’Grady’s – Corralejo, was established in 1995, and has gone on to become one of the most popular and friendliest Irish Bar & Restaurant in the town. With its rustic feel and traditional home cooking, Rosie’s is a child-friendly restaurant and offers special children’s dishes for the little ones, and a Satellite TV in the bar for father, so that he doesn’t have to miss the big game.
Venue – Corralejo, if all the paella and Spanish cuisine is a bit rich for your palate, and all you want is some good, old-fashioned British grub, then go down to this restaurant where they import the ingredients for their dishes from England. The atmosphere is informal and the ‘bangers and mash’ real. |

Fester’s Sporting Bar – Corraljo, While the family is out doing whatever takes their fancy, Dad can catch up on the real business of life, by watching the latest sporting fixtures on the seven TVs in this bar. By night the younger crowd gets it on to the DJs spinning the latest hits at the prescribed ear-splitting decibel level.
Chablis Wine Bar – Corralejo, open from 9.30 am to 2.00 pm Chablis not only takes care of the drinking crowd, it also provide nourishment of the more substantial kind, with a traditional English menu. It is also the place to be for some karaoke fun and games. So drink up, gather your Dutch courage, and grab the mike. After all, who cares if you make a total ass of yourself, you’ll be leaving soon and no one knows you anyway.
The Blue Rock – Corralejo, with candlelight and pulsating fairy lights, the Blue Rock is not one of the trendiest bars in town, but it does have a warm, inviting ambience, and is the best rock bar on the island. With music that excites the soul, from blues and rock, to ethnic and Celtic, it is no wonder the place has been going for two decades. |

Caleta de Fuste Beach – The gentle slope of the beach makes it a good place for families and their little ones, although it is a good plan to keep a watch on the incoming tide as it arrives in a hurry, and could catch you napping as your deck chair floats out to sea. There is a lot of activity on offer, with water sports, diving, sailing, and boat or submarine trips available.
Cofete Beach – located in the natural park of Jandia, this lovely unspoiled beach is perfect for a summer tryst, with only the wind and the wild to see you. The little Cofete village lies at the southern end of the beach where most of the houses are only used as weekend getaways.
Costa Calma – Beach bars, sun beds, and umbrellas make these beaches more tourist friendly than the previous one, and the water sports are all available for the more energetic, such as windsurfing, sailing, and jet skiing. |

| La Lajita Zoo – Located on the East coast of Fuerteventura, between Tarajalejo and La Cuesta de La Pared, this little fishing village of La Lajita has a few restaurants and bars, but its main attraction is the 'Oasis de Los Camellos' zoo. Take your children along for horse rides, camel rides, and to watch the parrot shows
