Tossa de Mar - March Chagall, the French artist, loved Tossa and called the 'Blue Paradise'. He knew a good thing when he saw it. Although Tossa is obviously plagued with the usual tourist fall-out of souvenir shops, flip-flipping tourists and inflated prices, it is still a charming and beautiful place to spend your summer vacation.
L'Escala - Conveniently situated for exploring the coves and beaches in the vicinity, L'Escala has its own attractions as well. The old quarter is filled with tree-shaded promenades and winding paths, and given the beaches and ruins it is worth visiting for a couple of days at least.
Girona - This city had is beginnings when Romans were riding rampant through the world and ruling every last inch of land they could find. In later times, it became an important medieval centre and was known for the peaceful co-existence between Christian, Arab, and Jew in the city. Today the Riu Onyar, with medieval alleys and Roman buildings on one side and the modern Spanish dwellings on the other, divides the city.
Figueres - This city owes a lot to the eccentric artist Salvador Dali, and the magnificent museum that was built here to house his surrealistic works of art. Although it has no beach, it sees the march of thousands of his admirers to Figueres who come to study his fantastic paintings and pay homage to his strange genius.
Cadaques - When Dali built his summer home here; he started a trend that has brought artists, writers, and musicians flocking to the idyllic village in their droves. Cadaques has refused to allow the tourist blight of high-rise hotels and condos to spoil its typical Mediterranean authenticity, and the lovely landscape of rocky beaches and peaceful scenery has retained it simplicity and beauty.

The pristine beaches of the Costa Bravo draw European devotees of the sand and sun regimen to its Mediterranean shores in their droves, where they bask in the golden rays of King Sol seeking the ultimate golden tan.
As winter draws in, they beat a strategic retreat as fierce winds sweep across the sands driving even the locals to destinations that are more agreeable.
