CAZALLA LOCAL HISTORY
Cazalla de la Sierra is a little town dating back to Roman time. Its original name of Callentum was changed to Kazalla ("fortified city") by the Moors. (Interesting to note is that in villages like this it’s still possible to find people living in adapted caves.)

CAZALLA ATTRACTIONS Add your favourite attraction
The church of Nuestra Señora de la Consolación - which dates back to the 14th century, is at the southern end of town and an amazing example of "assorted" architecture. Another lovely site only a 5km walk way is the little 18th century church called the Ermita del Monte. Only a bus ride away in Seville you will find the Seville cathedral, the third-largest in the world with Roman/Gothic/Renaissance elements and an interesting history. Important to mention is the remarkable Flemish glass-work. Also visit the Museum in the Cathedral which boasts objects of enormous historical and artistic value and if you are interested in the history of bull fighting, then you must visit the Seville Bullfight-Museum at the Real Plaza de Toros de la Maestranza.

La Cartuja de Cazalla is is place full of history. In ancient times it was already used for religious purposes, a moorish leader lived here, it was a hunters place for princes. In 1476 it became a Carthusian Monastery and was deserted in 1836 after a law of Mendizabal. Now it is a , National Monument - which you can visit - hotel and museum, owned by Carmen Ladrón de Guevara Bracho. It is situated at 3,5 km outside the town of Cazalla.

CAZALLA RESTAURANTS Add your favourite restaurant
For delicious cuisine in Seville try the ever-popular Doña Elvira Restaurant in the Santa Cruz quarter. Rumours have it that Doña Inés de Ulloa was born here and she was the great love of Don Juan Tenorio, one of the most notorious historical characters of Santa Cruz. Just the house itself deserves photographing.

In the centre of Seville is La Venencia Restaurant at Julio Cesar, 10 bajo b. Here you can sit on the terrace and enjoy the summer day with top quality local cuisine.

At Badulague, Alameda de Hercules 54, you can choose from pizzas and pastas or salads and international or vegetarian cuisine.

Situated in the historical Plaza del Concejo, this is a wonderful place to enjoy modern cuisine based on traditional Spanish dishes.

CAZALLA BARS & CLUBS Add your favourite bar & club
In nearby Seville you will find Paco's Place Tapas Bar at Alameda de Hércules 23 situated on a gorgeous terrace. Here you will experience a warm atmosphere and divine home cooked food.

The Bar-Tapas Las Monumental - situated at Diego Angulo de Iñiguez - Edif. Corona 6, 7, 8 is also great and won the 1st prize for “best Tapas” in Seville in 1998.

Bar Gonzalo - c/Caridad 3, in the town centre has a varied menu at excellent prices.

The Casino in central La Plazuela is comfortable and serves uncomplicated but very tasty local cuisine and is a great place to have a drink (at reduced prices) and relax.

CAZALLA BEACHES Add your favourite beach
There is over 800km of coastline here most of which consists of glorious sandy beaches - the choice is yours!

From Cazalla de la Sierra it is a 2-hours drive to the beaches of Huelva, e.g. Punta Umbría is very nice, or 3 hours to Cádiz.

In Seville there is the Sierra Norte de Sevilla Natural Park which is home to many endangered species.

CAZALLA CHILDREN'S ACTIVITIES Add your favourite children's spot
Isla Mágica - is a spectacular theme park in Seville. Explore the 15th and 16th centuries or visit a pirate’s lair. The most popular attractions are the Jaguar roller-coaster (only suitable for the daring) and the theatre shows.

The park opens from March. If you would like to attend a workshop on ceramics, painting or even Flamenco dancing contact the Turism Rural Hidalgo on (34) 954 88 3581. Well worth a visit is the Sierra Norte de Sevilla Natural Park and once inside you can take an 18km train ride through the most majestic scenery.
