El Raitan - Trascorrales 6, Just south of the Cathedral and an extensive menu introduces you to regional specialities. The set menu is good value and the chef tends to change the menu seasonaly. The interior resembles a tavern and the vibe is cosy.

La Maquina - Avenida Conde de Santa Barbara 59. Fabada is served here like nowhere else. This dish is a provincial favourite and is made with sausage and white beans. This popular restaurant has a country setting and is 6km from Oviedo on the road to Aviles. This is not just a restaurant, but an experience. Try it for a real taste of Asturias.

El Corral del Indiano - Av. de Europa 14, Arriondas. Located at the foot of the Los Picos de Europa mountain range in this non descript village. One of the finest restaurants in Europe is to be found here. Some of Europes most important food experts have been lured here. Once tasted you can see why they come. Jose Antonio Campo Viejo is a genious in the kitchen and deserves the accolades. Not cheap, but worth every Euro.

Risco - La Arenosa 2, Larado. Located in this seaside hotel and serving traditional food. Sea food is the speciality, but the chef is very creative and people return time after time for his dishes. Always busy and reservations are recommended.
