Palacio Real - Plaza Palacio. This is the royal palace that dates back to 1778. The Spanish royals certainly lived in style and all rooms are luxuriously decorated. You are guided through all rooms by a uniformed guide, (Who expects a tip at the end.) Its worth it as you learn the history of the Royal Family and get a glimse of their elegant lifestyle.
Casita del Labrador - Calle Reina, Jardin del Príncipe. This is translated as "The House of the Worker," and was constructed in 1803 by Charles 4th. Beautifully located surrounded by a lavish garden. No expense was spared on the interior of this palace and it's furnishings. The quirky name is explained and a visit here would be for a good half day and you can take in the gardens.
Church of San Antonio - A hugely impressive building in town and a well known landmark. There is also an interesting history associated with the church. The arches and beautiful gallery are built in Romanesque style. Take an hour or two to investigate this church. |

Arancetana Gastronomy - There are traditions that date back to Royal days and the fertile valleys around the town are known for asparagus and strawberries.
Pheasants are common in the forested land and are a popular delicacy. Fresh Trout is caught in the river and is also on the menu of most restaurants. The area is rich in locally grown food and menu's in most restaurants feature farm fresh delicacies. |

Casa Jose - Calle Abastos, 32. The top restaurant in town regularly and one can see why. Located in the centre of town in a 300 year old house. Food buffs travel miles to dine here. All ingredients are fresh and the creative chef often changes the menu. The food is Spanish first, but there is a good choice of International dishes with a slant on meat.
La Rana Verde - Reina, 1. Located centrally near the Royal Palace and popular with locals and visitors. The menu is strictly Spanish and obtains a lovely, relaxed, garden atmosphere from the high beams and flowers hanging. Peaceful river views are combined with inventive, tasty local food at a reasonable price.
Casa Pablo - Almibar 42. A basically decorated and busy place near the bus station. The restaurant is well established and has become a firm favourite in the town. Relax outside, watch the passing parade, while you enjoy the 4 course fixed meal. The interior is cosy and you will go far to beat the quality of food, service and wine list. |

Prince's Garden - a beautiful shady garden running along the River Tajo. Wonderful to walk the paths on a summers day. Stroll the paths, cross the bridges and reflect on life. There are some lovely marble sculptures inspired by ancient Rome.
Jardín de la Isla - This is the garden of the Royal Palace, so while you are there, why not take a walk around these landscaped gardens. Well planned out and in pristine condition with fountains in profusion, many dedicated to Roman gods. This is included in your entrance so pick a fine weather day.
Garden of Isabel II - San Antonio Square is fronted by this garden and it was designed in 1830. Soon after Isabel II moved here (In the form of a Bronze statue) Well established trees make this city garden a delight. |
