Ronda – The Algeciras to Ronda train journey is an attraction in itself. It is one of the best journeys in Andalucia and takes you past some of the most beautiful villages in the area. Look out for Castellar de la Frontera, this odd village is situated in a castle. There are four trains from Algeciras a day.
Algeciras Marina and beaches – The views of the Rock of Gibraltar and the African coast from here are wonderful. The beaches are beautiful and one of the cities most attractive attractions.
Carnival – February. This parade takes place across the centre of the city. The Goddess of the carnival, together with her Nymphs, launches the holiday and for the next three days the city is filled with music and different events.
Tangier – Visit the wonderful city of Tangier whilst you are in this part of the world. There are regular ferries and high-speed catamarans to whisk you across the water. The experience of visiting another continent with a different way of life is fascinating and enriching.

| Typical dishes of Algeciras include fried fish and shell fish dishes including ‘tortillas de bacalao (cod)’, ‘pez espada (swordfish) en amarillo’ . Dishes with ‘alcachofas (artichokes) are also very popular.

Meson El Copo – 2, Trasmayo 11379 Palmones. This restaurant has several rooms with a different atmosphere created in each one. Try the room, which recreates a ship's cabin, which is outstanding. The food is made with fresh ingredients and is delicious.
Restaurant Alboran - 11205 Algeciras. This is a charming restaurant served classic Spanish food well cooked and presented.
Restaurant Casa Arturo - 1410 Algeciras, Segismundo Moret, 8. The food here is very good and the service is excellent.

El Molino del Conde Bar/Restaurant - Algeciras to Jimena Road. Top Jazz is played in this 13th Century Mill Garden every Friday evening. If you want to eat then you will find good Andalusian cuisine is on offer here.

Playa Getares – Algeciras. This 2.5 mile long beach has been awarded the prestigious the Blue Flag because of its fine golden sand and calm waters. The magnificent seafront promenade along side the beach has many excellent services and facilities
Playa El Rinconcillo beach - This partly urbanized beach has fine golden sand and calm waters. The beach is huge and is mainly used for sports such as beach volleyball and beach football. There is a windsurfing school nearby
